I have very thick and dark hair which makes me look evil. How do I bleach it without making it look copper? What are the down sides?

I think you shoud leave it...it sounds pretty! To many blonds in the world anyway...

dont, the best you will get is a light orange that will look very very fake. i have strictly black hair. all the hair on my body is black except sometimes my stubble turns into this red, but thats because of my hidden highlights, and trust me they are pretty well hidden.
ive bleached my hair before, it wasnt so bad because im a guy and i have short hair and if i didnt like it, it would grow out within about a month, but for girls, welcome to "you just fucked up your hair for about a year and it will look gross when you striaghten it, let alone all the time" land. and dont even think of dying it back black because you will be so sorry after strands of hair falls out non-stop.
just keep your hair the way it is. jet black is sexy.
and trust me on all the info, i have a 2 sisters.

 NOOOOOOO no no no nope nut huh .... doooon't do it!! Please leave your hair the way it is! It's great the way it is!:rose: :rose:

BE CAREFULL!

a few things that you may want to know are.

1. The 'wash in' or 'semi perminant' colors from the grocery store only darken or change tone. Plus I have NEVER been able to wash it out as the package says. They do tend to look more natural however.

2. Since you have dark hair the best thing to do is go to a solan and consult them first. Don't do it on your first visit. Ask them what color they think would work best. See it on their color chart, then ask is it is perminant or semi perminant. (the semi-doesn't bleach, it changes tone and darkens it? may ask them that also.)

3. Know what you want when you go in. Cut pictures from magazines and such. It makes it much easier for who ever does it to do what YOU want. Otherwise your lighter blondish may become white or red!

4. There are two color charts for blond one is violet based and one is more yellow. It is usualy refered to as golden.

My last nightmare (right before i got married) was because my bridesmade (also a stylist.) Used a color off the 'golden' chart, bleached my head and made my hair blend in with the orage center line of the highway. I felt florecent. All I wanted was my natual hair color, a dark blond, with no roots from grow out.

The violet is more naturaly looking to those with darker hair it has brown tones. The golden usualy had red to orange tones. Since you don't want red, I would not use it.

5. Keep in mind this is something that you will have to maintain every 6-8 weeks, or you will look very silly.

Just make sure you know what you want, bring pictures, and ask to see color charts first.

Good luck!
