What did you want to be when you were a child?

What are you now? Are you close or was that just a dream?

I wanted to be a RCMP.. then the grades there failed so tried the military... and they rejected me due to a birth condition...

Now I'm running a damn saw... and want to get out again... and be where I know I'm best..In the patch...but this time, I'm going to make a career and have a life.

Honestly, I never had anything I wanted to be. I do have regrets about not getting a college degree. I got hired after my first term of college. I had applied for a job as receptionist but the only opening was for dispatcher. So I got my career by accident. I've been dispatching for almost 19 years now. It can be super stressful but for the most part, I still love it.

You must still be pretty young so don't give up hope.

I am in training to become a police officer.. I am in the gym almost everyday running my ass off..up to 2miles and getting faster and stronger.. but if this doesn't work out and they say no..I will be back in the oilfield only this time sitting in a truck and checking a welder's work for mishaps.. and travelling the world..At least with this move I can make alot of money and travel while I'm still young.

I wanted many things. The one thing I wanted the most was a man to love me.

I wanted to be a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corp. But shitty eyesight and a badly broken ankle kinda killed that.
So, then I wanted to be an attorney... tomorrow I start as a secretary in a cold storage facility, comming from working as a cashier in a convenience store.
At the end of the month I take the entrance boards for law school and will send out applications before the end of November, for the fourth time, lol.

Im oddly encouraged and depressed at the same time.

As a child, from the age of 4, I knew that I was meant to be an artist...I never had any doubt - it was one of only a few things I was ever very good at.

I have everything that I ever wished for...a wonderful husband (31 yrs now), 2 hella cool sons, my art studio and drawings, the sale of those drawings - over the net usually, my very few and very deep friendships, our own little home. We never travel anymore, have little money to do anything much except enjoy life around our house and garden of 28 yrs.

We have no regrets, and feel blessed.


My life has never been perfect (indeed very hard at times), but I feel so lucky!

i wanted to be a vet..i love animals and would have loved to work with them...but my parents thought law school was a better choice so i became a lawyer and work with sharks...lol
I still wish i had a job like terri erwin or jacques cousteau that to me seems like the dream job..i have no regrets though looking back i am in a good spot today personally and professionally..
ahhh but to dream of the amazon and such cool places studying there..
