The sun is out after two days of blah.
Sugar snap peas broke the surface this morning (first planting, second planting just went into the dirt four days ago). Swiss chard is up, spinach is up, broccoli, cabbage & brussel sprouts are 6" high....strawberries are blooming.
Forsythias at the top of the road are in bloom so mine should be by next week--I'm a little bit further down the ridge.
The lilac "bush" (it's three of them and they're about 12' tall) just outside my large east kitchen window has budlets all over them. Open the south kitchen window and the east kitchen window and the smell drafts thru the entire house.
Mmmmm....and when they die off is when the vining honeysuckle blooms for the first time, the air so thick with it you can taste it.
Pretty soon what I euphemistically call a "lawn" will be a green carpet sprinkled liberally with white (soapwort), purple (wild violet), red (wild strawberry) and yellow (dandelion). Very, very pretty I think.
Ayup. Life is good.
I shall have to wander over the hill this evening and see if the Annual Frog Spring Concert is getting ready to start--some years they get so loud you can hear them inside thru closed doors & windows.
