An obsession with liberalism seems to be more of a thing over the pond. Sure, you get people who go on about the lefties over here, but people seem to forget that we have a political spectrum rather than just two sides against one another - so just calling someone a leftie can mean anything from someone who is just a little left of centre, to a militant communist.
