Can't thiink of a dirt bag who deserved it more.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Lennox Lewis showed the bully who was boss.

Using a masterful left jab and landing his right hand at will, Lewis battered a befuddled MikeTyson before stopping him with a crashing right hand in the eighth round to keep his heavyweight titles Saturday night.

Tyson was bleeding from cuts over his eyes and from the nose when Lewis landed a punch that sent him sprawling on his back in Lewis' corner. Tyson tried to get up at the count of eight, getting to one knee, but was counted out.

It was a sudden end to a dominating performance in which Lewis overwhelmed the former champion from the opening bell.

Referee Eddie Cotton counted Tyson out at 2:25 of the eighth round

I'm happy for Lennox, but this should have been a "Winner take all" purse, that would have been better. I hate to see thug tyson make another dime in the ring.

I'm surprised he's lived this long. He's a subhuman animal.

Heard it on the radio...

and immediately after the fight both fighters were interviewed together.

Tyson asked Lewis for a 'third chance' which is already written into the contract and Lewis said that he had no objection.

So the saga isn't yet over!

:D

As Tyson seemed to have fought...

a good clean fight (in fact it was Lewis who was warned by the referee twice and had a point deducted), do you think he should undertake a drugs test to make sure he wasn't on medication?

You know, that medication that's meant to keep him under control.

:)

As he layed on the mat all Tyson could mutter was "Buster Douglas" :)

To his credit, Mike was showed utmost sportsmanship during and after the fight. It was an incredibly boring fight because Tyson was blah and Lewis was his usual chess-game self. I love Lewis and respect his skills, but he can be the most boring fighter to watch.

The two undercard fights were alright, though. That Philippino guy had serious punching power!

Well, I'm disappointed.

Is there any better thing in boxing right now than the Iron Mike show?

No, it's all boring idiots. A Tyson title would have been entertaining at least.

Head rush.

BTW, none of this detracts from the fact that Tyson was the best heavyweight ever.

Did you catch what Roy Jones said when he was asked if a Tyson win would be bad for boxing? Good quote. I agree with him.

ummm....weevil

Boxing is run by hairballs (no offense to all those cats). You may want to check, but to get a boxing license in most states you need to spend a year in the joint.

Convicted rapists usually get top draw. The murderers become promoters.

And?

What's your point?

He said something to the effect of if you meant bad in that people's morals would be offended, then maybe...but as far as what's best for the sport of boxing, there's no one like Mike Tyson. He's what boxing is all about. That's the gist, anyhow.

No offense meant on the hairball crack, famous friend of felines.

;)

Oh, well obviously,

But, you know I don't get the moral outrage over Tyson. It reminds me of the Carlin bit about Ali, remember? Not understanding why a man who beat people up for a living could get so bent out of shape about being asked to kill.

I'm not outraged. The fact is he's an abuser of women. A convicted rapist. A piece of dog squeeze.

You can't compare Ali with Tyson. That's like comparing Saddam Hussein to Mother Teresa.

No????? They're both Heavyweight boxers aren't they? Doesn't that make them fairly comparable?

No offense taken, dear miles. :)

Baseball players do steroids and gamble. Boxers beat their wives & rape beauty queens. Movie stars do drugs. Everybody cheats, lies, and steals. It's entertainment. Why athletes and movie stars are still held up as role models of character for children to follow is beyond me.
