Level Up! (Closed for Lil_Squirter)

Another duck and she weaved her body around the outcroppings of rock that held the far end of the cave. The two scaly gray green things lumbered after her with slavering jaws and slit pupil eyes. All the typical trappings of a monster designed to be gross, nasty and scary without being over the top. Still when they were bearing down on you and all you had between you and them was some swift foot action they could appear pretty damned frightening. She kept moving and then noticed one of the things stagger, a digital death howl reaching her as it grasped at it's own chest and fell forward in a heap, a shiny blade protruding form the back of it. "Yes!"

Her cheering was short lived as the second beastie seemed unconcerned with it's fellows death and maintained it's advance on her. First one in, first target...and as yet it hadn't had any reason to turn and bear down on Felix. Courtney was coming to a rather tricky section of the cave, where to walls met close enough that an ill timed step would mean being trapped by the beast if it was smart enough to--- it was smart enough. With a hissing roar it scrambled far enough in front of her to cut off her escape route and force her to face it. No one got through this without battling the thing.

"Why didn't I go for barbarian class? Even wizards do more damage." She muttered and dipped down low, legs taking a wide, near split stance as her blade was drawn from the sheath at her calf. Looks like it was time to face down the over grown gekko. "I should say something funny here...like about needing new boots ...but I just haven't got the time." With that she lunged, tucking her body into a ball, rolling low to uncoil and thrust her dagger into the things gut, from below. The blade slid between the scale ridged like a knife through butter, and into the belly of the beast. Black blood oozed and then poured from the wound dousing her in the foul stuff. With a grimace she wedged the blade back and forth trying to do more damage and keep herself safely out of reach. So long as she was under the thing it's arms could not reach her.

Felix had moved quickly. Leaping onto the back of the lizard monster, straddling it like a cowboy would straddle his horse. He knew that the girl was under the creature, and he knew that she was relatively safe as long as she stood there, at least for now, but he also knew that he couldn't afford to leave her down there. She was in a bad spot, and in order for her to not be in a bad spot he was going to have to scare this monster into leaving her alone. He moved quickly again, thrusting his dagger into the creature's neck. This was all part of the plan now. If he could hold on to the dagger now this shouldn't have been any more difficult than riding a mechanical bull or something. He smirked softly, knowing what she meant about her clever jokes. He spoke up quickly, "It's alright if you don't want to come up with a clever joke. As long as I'm here I can fill the gap, after all, this is probably what I would call an 'epic mount'." He smirked softly, knowing that later he would probably use the term 'epic mount' for something completely different, but really that depended on how open she was to interesting little sexual experiments in this game. It didn't help that even he knew that using 'epic mount' as an innuendo joke term was cheesy. She probably would laugh, but realize immediately that he wasn't the kind of guy she wanted to do anything with.

He kept a tight grip on his dagger which was held between the creature's scales and skin in the same way that his sword had been stuck in the hide of the other creature. Perfect. For a moment, he imagined what this would be like if it was some incredibly well received playstation2 game where the only monsters in the game were incredibly large creatures that you had to climb onto and find the weak spots of in order to defeat. He quickly shook that thought out of his mind. There would be time for games like that later.

He brought up his hand, curling his fingers into a fist and then brought it down on the other side of the creature's neck. He knew that it wasn't going to be doing much damage, especially to a big monster like this, but it was something, and at the moment something was all he could do. The creature had of course started to buck and heave, trying to force him off of it's back. That was exactly what he wanted. If it was moving, hopefully it would give Cour enough time to escape from under it, and after that, well, at least he'd know that she was safe. He smiled weakly. This was probably going to be the end for him. He imagined this creature rolling over or something and crushing him, but at least he would have done his job and gotten Cour where she needed to be.
