Okay, I had to screw up a perfectly good poll by throwing another option into the mix. So, here are the THREE options for the back cover blurb of volume 2 of Coming Together. The poll will close in 2 days ... so vote!

Blurb #1

By definition, a cocktail is a drink that is served usually at a gathering or party. It is something that is associated with a cozy, usually intimate, informal affair. A host of talented writers has offered up a bevy of different cocktails for your delight and consumption. They are both intimate, cozy and certainly a tasty delight to wet both your palate as well as your imagination.

So come in, sit down, and be prepared to be entertained. Enjoy your cocktail.

Many Feathers, (aka Thesandman)
Blurb #2

Those of you who are familiar with the first volume will love this. Those who aren’t, hold on to your hats it’s a wild, wild read.

Expect complete arousal of the mind, body and spirit as this compilation of poems and prose spanning across the, ever widening, genre of erotica, takes you from the pertinently moving three line poem Gloss to the short novella sized Spirit of Frankenstein a touching, almost abhorrent, yet strangely understandable, look into the loss of a spouse. Take the rough and tumble journey through public humiliation and enjoy the excited sweetness of the first time in Be Gentle with her. Feel the despair of a mother struggling to be seen as a woman and chuckle at the satirical humor in Dr Bob and his dildo. how a couple keeps their sex alive and how good friends can become much, much more. The horny sweetness of lesbian love, contrasting with the heart pounding suspense of erotic horror. A honeymoon affair may make you look at more mature couples in a new light! All this interspersed with very rousing poetry gives the reader, many contrasts but a common theme, sexual enjoyment.

Coming together, volume 2, touches the senses and inspires emotions and will keep you lusting after more. When you put it down, you will pick it back up again. And again.

Blurb #3

Grab a cold one, kick off your shoes, sit back, and prepare to be satisfied. Coming Together will slake your thirst for the erotic. From the original illustrations to the savory poetry to the stirring prose, you’re sure to delight in the many fine flavors of this cocktail. Take a sip of the succulent, swirl the sweetness around on your tongue, slam it home with a hardcore chaser, then come back for another round. It’s a heady mix of intoxicating spirits, but without the hangover!

And the cherry on top? All proceeds from the sale of this series go to organizations which work to protect your freedom of speech! You'll not find a more “satisfying” way to protect your civil liberties than by chillin' with the hottest erotic cocktail in print.

The one that was written by the most well known and liked author.

(A brief stint as an over-paid, over-shrieked at, serving wench in a major advertising agency. Want to know what selling your soul feels like, just ask...)

I have a couple of quibbles about the references in Number 3. "a cold one" is usually a reference to a can or bottle of beer, not a cocktail. The "cherry on top" is usually a reference to an ice cream sundae. The idea is fine but I think the wording should be changed. :D

Food and Drink

Maybe something about "boilermakers and olives?"

The food and drink allusions could carry the piece if straightened a bit.

A boilermaker isn't a cocktail, though. It's a shot of whiskey and a beer.

Maybe a reference like "The maraschino cherry you eat after finishing the cocktail"

Number 3 seems like the best "sales piece" to me, as well as fitting in word count wise....

Yes! You did screw up the voting. :p

But the result is worth it. Can we use it for all volumes?
That would be great.
And ... saves you some trouble later on.

Thanks, BT ... but I'd really like to do the back-scratching thing with other published authors (preferably AHers).

Next time, we'll be more clear on guidelines:

140-160 words (including signature)
Cocktail theme
Mention that it contains stories, poems, and illustrations
Mention no stories/poems or authors/poets by name
Mention that it contains a variety of erotic material
Mention the fact that it's a philanthropic project

(Can you think of any more?)

Yes: mention their own work/website or whatever?

:D

By the way, Sabledrake said she would take a look for a back blurb.
Not sure if she will do one, she's not on much at the moment.

My bestest buddy says it's a tart's name. LOL

what, you don't think you're a tart? :D and here I had these fantasies about you as a pastry....

I like the idea of continuing to change the back cover blurb. We sgould be able to keep finding "guest artists" for it, especially as we get more experience at finding them. there are still plenty at Lit too....

Yeah. I dig #3. It makes good issue of the good cause, which I think is important.
