How many do you have? How many is enough? Could you live without them? What would you change about yours? Show us a picture of one. Discuss.

No. That was about my SHOES. Not about the closet per se.

On my eternal househunting quest, I'm noticing that the older cottages I like have a major drawback....no (or very small) closets.

It occurred to me that if I added up the squarefootage of my current closets, they would come close to the total area of the teeny-tiny houses I thought were so cute. This could be a huge problem.

Old houses and closet space do not go hand in hand.

You learn to incorporate things like big armoires and such into your furniture scheme.

What a great topic!!!

I looked at one house with a large master that incorporated a nook that could have been a nursery or sitting room. I thought it needed built ins to turn it into a very large closet.

Here's a little secret: I was just waking up when I saw LK's other thread and did this one as a parody.

i had a 100+ year old house it only had 2 closests but they were both cedar closets. I used an entire room as my closet and everyone thought that was strange

Please delete that post before she reads it. I would like to have a room for myself. Thank you.

The back wall of my bedroom is solid closet. I hate it because I can't move anything around and it should be the wall my bed is against. But no. It has to be a closet. *grump*

On the other hand, it houses both our full wardrobes. All seasons. The doors were a gorgeous dark mahogany but I took them off since it made the room so much darker. Now they're just open to the room! When everything else in the room is a wreck, it manages to add a sense of structure and organization when there really isn't any :D

seems nice

I live in a teeny apartment, but I have plenty of closet space. I have a walk-in closet in the bedroom, a hallway closet, and a storage closet outside my door.

They're all full though and I've only been here a little over a year

My mom once had a house that had so many built-ins and cabinets that she had a walk-in closet just for Christmas decorations. *sigh* Everything was so neat and tidy.

heaven

my closet space and organizers would give somey multi ple Os. 2 coat closets, one a walk-in; each bedroom has a walk-in, except for the master which has 2, plus 400 sf of storage. i won't get into the drive-in space in the barn.
