Chyoo is a pretty complex application and we want to make it as easy to use and as powerful as possible. Tell us what you would like to see changed on the site - what you don't want changed - let us know about any bugs, errors, broken links - etc.

On the to-do list:

- Allow authors to submit info about the main character in the immersive stories. Along with this, authors will be able to supply a default name for the character so that readers who choose not to enter a name in the form box will read the story with the character name you had in mind when you wrote it. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, just let me know!

- A "report this thread" link on each thread page so that readers can alert us to abusive or illegal threads. All characters in Chyoo stories must be at least 18 years old, remember.

- Minor improvements to the story submission process to allow you to preview your story and go back through the steps if you want to make changes.

- Lots of other stuff I can't think of.

- A lot of things you are going to suggest.

So, let the suggestions fly!

Changing the interface a bit might be helpful. Maybe it was lack of sleep, but I had a hard time realizing that 'Home' would take me back to the main page, where I could choose a different category. I think a system like Lit, in which you have a choice box for each forum could be implemented easily enough.

The only other observation is that the choices were very limited, non-existent in one case. That will change with time, I expect.

This looks like it will be a lot of fun, before too long! Good work, friends!

I totally agree that the navigation needs some work. I like having a tree like we do on Literotica and on this forum where it shows something like this at the top of the page:

Home - Stories - Category - Story Title

And each one is linked so you can go back where you came from easily.

Are you suggesting maybe a drop down list as well where you can jump to another category?

What do you think of having each story be able to be viewed as a tree structure as well? I would have to work on that one for a while, but when the stories start to get huge we may need a way for people to view them graphically so that they can see what threads are new and which way they haven't been yet. It's a ways off, but I'm trying to think ahead toward things that will make the site easier to use and more fun down the road.

Thoughts?

Thanks to both of you for the feedback, too! :)

think the interface is pretty easy to comprehend.....need more writers around though....thinking coming here would take time away from lit....:D

Choosing Character Info.

I think it's nifty that we can decide information about the main characters before we read the stories. However, it would be nice if we had a little bit of information before we had to make that decision (gender is the big one I can think of) so that we don't end up with, "Then, Big Al opened her legs, displaying her sweet, virgin pussy to us all.)

I would like to see a free story section so readers & unregistered authors can post their own interactive stories without being restricted by the editor.

Suggestions

There should be a way to "number" or otherwise identify individual thread entries, so that later entries can point back to them. Otherwise you, or me actually, as someone actually trying to write one of these things, is faced with an exponentially increasing number of choices that have to be written up each step of the way.

It might also be nice to carry a few more variables than just the character's name. Gender, as mentioned above, is key. Hair and eye color might be nice too, easy values to work into a story.

I have more ideas but let's save those for now.

Maybe it's just my computer, but when I read those threads that I'm supposed to approve, the link that is supposed to take me back to where the story last ended doesn't ever work. So what happens is I have a thread to approve but most of the time I don't know which part of the story it's connected to.

Hope someone would look into this, and perhaps Chyoo can be a bit more lively. After such a long time there's only about 130 stories, and most stories aren't even past the 1st page. Well the later part was just quiet wishing...:p

I see very little use for allowing a reader to name a character as it is currently implemented. My problem with it is I don't know the sex of the person I am supposed to name. I think something like Male_first, Male_Last, Female_first, Female_Last would be better than what you currently have. You could also add in a number of other variables describing each character or situation, such as height, hair and eye color, etc. If the idea is to let someone place themselves and/or someone they know into a story, it breaks the illusion if you have red hair and in the story you are a blonde. It seems to me that a number of simple replacements could be added and then parsed at display time.

You could even work it up as a character profile that a reader filled out (with defaults) where they select the items from lists and with buttons. That way the parser could be tricky and know that if a character is blonde that you can use "blonde," "yellow," "straw" or "golden" to describe the hair and randomly select one.

I've done this kind of thing before in a game I wrote and it's not that big of a deal to pull off.

But, these comments aside, I love the site man and can't wait for my first story to appear!

Lets Make Chyoo better?

How can that be? I have tried to update my own story and all that happens when I hit the submit button is I'M SENT BACK TO THE HOME PAGE AND NO UPDATE HAPPENS? Why is this happening? :(
I noticed anoter writer has had the same problem.

How can you make it better?

One way you can make it better is to respond to inquires that have been sent. Secondly, why is it that when I try to update a thread I am returned to the home page and no update ever appears.
I know that I sent in at least two or three stories and not once have I heard about any of them.

Getting some kind of response would be one way of improving your site.
