you obama people are so lazy, sloths, slobs, and in desperate need of quality mental help. we need a real POTUS that is an American so that we can create camps to send you mental retards to get fixed and lets face it, you obama kind need some serious help.

how desperate you fucktards have to be to surrender your freedom in exchange for slavery

You're aware that all but one of the founding fathers--Adams, who was both religious and the only non-slave owner in the group but a Unitarian--were highly educated elites who were either atheists or believed in an impersonal god and also leftist radicals, right?

Take Jefferson, for instance. His proudest accomplishments were his accomplishments in establishing religious freedom and founding the University of Virginia rather than being a President of the United States.

While a slave owner, he also personally advised the subsequent revolutions that sprang up in the wake of America's, notably France's, and supported their stated ideals, which were usually far to the left of the compromises the American Revolution was based on to keep the aristocracy on board.

I think, if you met one of the Founders, there would be a shared sense of mutual disdain.

(And I say this as a person who strongly dislikes President Obama because I find him to be sociopathic shill for the financial services industry and MIC and bad for the country as a result.)

I strongly doubt that there was only one non-slave holder in the group of founding fathers. Here is a list of them and a description of their accomplishments: http://constitutioncenter.org/learn/educational-resources/founding-fathers/

If you take the broadest possible definition of the term, he's one of seven non-slave owners, a number which includes his cousin.

If you go by the narrower one, i.e. the members who became president plus Franklin, he is the only one.

But thanks for assuming I was wrong and then throwing a hyperlink in there without doing your own research.

I believe there were 42 founding fathers, the men who hammered out the details of the Constitution. Obviously, some are more historically prominent than others but they all deserve to be included in any list of founding fathers. When I get a chance, I will provide a list of which were not slave owners, and I am sure it was more than seven.

Well, that's interesting. However, all but three of those you listed ware from the South which, I suppose, would mean the rest were non-slave holders from the North. You have listed nobody from NY or MA, which were large states, nor NH, and only one each from NJ, PA and CT although there had to have been more from those places.

DE and MD were south of the Mason-Dixon Line and were considered part of the South, although they were not later part of the Confederacy.

ETA: Actually, there were 55 founding fathers and here is a complete list: http://constitutioncenter.org/learn/educational-resources/founding-fathers/

I never stated a number, I said 27 of the Constitutional Convention were landowners.. based on your assumption of 7...I did not say they were all slave owners

where they were from is irrelevant

the North South division of the civil war did not exist as the nation did not exist before you try bringing in Repub/Democrat revisionist history

and in any case.. George Washington is listed amongst them.. and he had over 200 slaves

Actually, you described the 27 as slave owners. Setanta said there was only one founding father who was not a not slave owner and, when I expressed doubt at that, changed the figure to seven. I believe the last number was also too low, but that might depend partly on the definition of "slave."
