Let's Bring Things To Focus. Make Things a Bit Clearer. Okay? "Honor" anyone?

Some have PM'd me - newer folks here - and they don't understand "Trolls."

And understandably - that concept is bit weird. I mean here we all are under "some sort" of a false moniker - and probably not being "exactly" who we are in RL - and of course we've had this spate of Troll issues befall the board of late.

Well.....

Trolls come in all shapes and sizes - and of different hearts. But They have one thing in common - they aren't real.

Yes, that sounds weird I know. They aren't real? Hmmmmmm?

But for the sake of argument - let's pretend - let's pretend that all of us, everyone here - would take up a name, a "pretend" name and then adopt a modified personality, but one that pretty closely resembles "who they are in RL" - AND - that we all created, "one and only one such guise." And, that we all stick with that personality (as I have) through all their experiences here on the Lit boards.

And then, let's just for the sake of definition - define that as, "real." Just for fun. C'mon - stick with me here.

That would be one and only one - close to our true RL, reality - personality - one for each member.

Okay? Okay......

Then....... Any thing other than that - "any modification" - "any other, additional creation".......

Can be defined as a Troll.

But, but, but - what is a Troll? What exactly is a, "modification or deviance of an extra personality," from a single, original, existing member? Give me an analogy Sparks?

The analogy is - "a mask."

A Troll is a person, a member, who originally came on board as, "a real" - (real - as we've defined for the sake of argument above) person - and then, "created masks."

Those masks can be Guests - that's the easiest way for a person, "to hide," and to say something and not allow it to be attributed to "their real" board personality.

But more sophisticated methods lie in the "creation of a new board member" a newbie - a Virgin - under a new name of course.

"WELCOME!" LittleWetPussy! "WELCOME!"

They (the Trolls) can be witty and fun - like Ganupi (Shit I always forget how Dill spelled his name. Where is Dill these days?) - or they can be very mean spirited Trolls - like the Guest who wished evil upon NSW today.

And what is so interesting about, "creating multiple masks and ID's," is that you, anyone of us, can do it infinitely. As long as anybody wants to keep coming up with fake personalities - they can do it - all they want. And of course - they can totally misrepresent themselves - not only who they really "first were" (who they first registered on the board as) on the board - but of course, they can completely misrepresent any sort of reality - that is, who they really, really are in RL.

So - an old man, in RL - can be an 18 year old girl here on the board - he could create a sister too - he could create friends and - he could post internet pics, and claim them to be real. In the end he (the old dude in RL) could do this for years here on this board - and build many acquaintances who all think "his stable" of personalities are real.

And it can't be stopped. Laurel, Manu, me, whoever - there is nothing, no one who can stop it. And this makes it so easy for sick Trolls - it's pitiful.

But what is more pitiful are those who actually do it. I even find it sick for, "any quick Guest comment."

You see - even though there is no actual, "honor system" in place - I, as I know many of you are - am an honorable person. And "we" wouldn't do this. I can't do it.

So in my logical mind - of course - this makes those who do, do it, who Troll - less than honorable people.

Yes, sickness prevails - it's everywhere.

So - I think that's pretty clear - what you all make of this info and how you wish to react to it are totally up to you - it's your call.

I really don't present to you this factual information to shatter anyone's world with - a dose of reality - I don't. I simply believe in honor.

But one more piece of info -

A little bird told me - that all this is true - yes, this board does have it's share of, "less than honorable," Trolls. Yes, the bird sings - it is a fact - Trolls are among us. It's a fact - that many of us don't know (How could they? I don't know them all of course either.) when they are, "making friends," with a Troll. But - "this little bird" sees enough circumstantial evidence - to be nearly, "one hundred percent convinced," that highly sophisticated Troll'ism exists here at Literotica. And this little bird has impeccable honor.

And all I feel compelled to do - is to make you all aware that this fact - is fact.

I believe in honor - and I'd hope that the same would be true for all of you as well.

Well shit, I am so damn gullible I may incorporate you Sparky as my "official troll spotter" before I make friends. I am who I am on here. I am very black or white, you freaked me out now.

Hey Lav.....

Little Bird - sees contrary to what you refer - sure those are most common - but there is strong evidence that indicates that - certain ID's dating back much more than a year here - all eminate from one or two sources. Some of "these" for lack of a better term have posts in the hundreds.

I even received a few names but can't tell - I did see a posting by one such name on page one today.

Let me check - be right back......

And "walked among us"

for over 3 months now - as "it's been perceived "as normal" by us all.

This one acts pretty normal - I beleive it to be one of many from a single source.

As I go down the list today - a couple of names jump right out at me. But of course I'm not sure.

It's just always curious when they "go away" for a month and then - especially when "Troll spotting, real or not" happens - certain names fade and other's resurface.

A resrufacing today - is what I saw.

But I have no proof.

Attention.

It's what everybody on this Lit board craves, to some degree.

The troll wants attention.

The troll comes up with a thread suggesting awful things.

The thread is kept alive by Lit members expressing their outrage.

The troll gets the attention she wants.

The troll gets the attention she wants.

The troll gets the attention she wants.

The troll gets the attention she wants.

Far be it from me to justify why I don't come to this board anymore....I used to be a newbie a while back and you people never took the time to get to know me. When I would post, there were only three people who took the time to reply to what I had to say. The rest of you would ignore me because of the newbie classification or virgin or whatever you would like to call it. I am a living person with feelings, but you all seemed to have forgotten that. You call yourselves caring and loving, although some of you have yet to learn what those words really mean. What I find truly ironic is that the person posting this is probably the worst offender of the lot. For that I thank you. It's been about 8 months since I posted last and every once in a while I want to try again....but I won't. Thank you for that, too. It's nice to be thought of as nothing, a non-entity. When I come back to look and see if anything has changed....I'm pleasantly surprised each time to see that it most certainly hasn't. That's too bad, because I think this site could be a lot nicer if some of you took the time to learn about others and stop putting yourselves on such high pedestals. Remember, it's a long way down when you fall and there is no one to catch you. I fell once, no one noticed. Thank you.

And once again I agree with Sparky. Except for the statement that everyone here is not exactly as they are in real life. I suppose that here in the cyber world, many people "pretend" to be what they want to be, but I think that some here are as they really are in real life. It's a way to be the person you want/deam of being. To me, if you can't be who you really are here or in real life, then you can't be honest to yourself or others. You are living a pretense, and in the mean time can cause hurt to those who value your friendship.

I think that perhaps, many of the older regulars of the BB are closer to the real them, then perhaps some of the newer people. (This is not a slam to the newbies on the board). The trolls are unhappy, lonely, attention-seeking individuals who thrive on making others hurt just as much as they hurt.

To make mean, vicious attacks on people as this no name person has done is nothing more than a cowardly act to hurt some else as much as perhaps someone from here or another site has done to them. Ignore them, scream at them or pity them, they will just continue doing their evilness to make others just as miserable as they are.

If we all refrain from posting on their threads, perhaps in time they will get the message and leave.

trolls are part of every net "place"

Well, i'm real, as defined by Sparky for the purposes of BB identification.

I think that i have way too much going on in my everyday life to find the time necessary to manufacture mulitple personalities and have them all "live" here on the GB; i can barely keep up with what i want to keep up with here as it is, just as me. Additionally, it would be a serious affront to my internalized system of morality to play such games with other poeple's heads.

However, i trust people, and i take online people as they present themselves, believing what and how they choose to portray as real about who they are.

If it turns out that they are liars, if they steal affection and friendship by way of lies and deciet, and if i find that out, then i close off all interaction with them. It's all one can do with dishonest people here. After all, they need that interaction or they wouldn't have lied in the first place. Closing it off hurts them and makes them face the emptiness of thier deciet.

It seems to be all one can do about net liars.

Then why did you post on that thread?

obviouslygone

I believe you are reading entirely too much into the fact that your posts go unnoticed. No one here holds "newbie" status against someone. On a BB like this one - where there are a lot of members, sometimes it takes a little aggressiveness on your part to elicit the responses you would like. Kinda like standing in a crowded room and trying to talk to someone 10 ft. away.

take a deep breath and try again. ;-)

PH because my fingers engaged before my brain did. *sigh*

Sparky:

A fine post. It's such a good explanation of the troll phenomenon it ought to be required reading for people on this or any bulletn board. If I were wearing a hat, I'd doff it to you...

Ditto Thomas Paine

Thanks Sparky.

For the record I always come on as me, okay once or twice as the Devil, and for some strange reason James Carville talks to me through the ether...

CARVILLE: Shutup AJ they got you on ignore damnit! You keep lyin' to them...

oh, well - Great post!

I wanted to say that too.

I was just so caught up in me. It takes a while in our defense to know if someone is a newbie or a troll. I always watch for a while nowadays.

Waaaaaaaa....

Or maybe you just never said anything interesting, like about half the people here.

When are people going to figure out this isn't the local 7-11 for self-esteem...

Telling them that they are a pain to be around and to quit being a whiny bitch and act like a man!!:p
Or simply pass by posts from those who don't say much that you find interesting. There's certainly a lot of different kinds of people who come here and spend time; one need not involve themselves with anyone they don't find interesting.
