Let me read you Nietzsche

So I made a video of myself reading this, but don't really feel like sharing the video.

Excuse the parched lip smacking and nervousness. I should probably do a perfect reading and share that, but what the hell.

i can't listen to it. :( my soundcard is muffed, i'm afraid. i've tried different speakers but no sound. one day i'll get another computer, just not right now.

No, you fucking half-witted, Billy-hating, Irish-bashing, cunting Yank knobhead. You sound sexy.

Ah, always the long wind up of hurtful words, followed by one simply elegant word of praise.

I have tears.

Absolutely horrid, Nietzche that is. Thought about life, never really lived it, and ended up stark raving mad.

i couldn't disagree more, but yeah, to each their own. i respect his views, philosophies and 'stark' questioning of the values of truth, life and being... it's like throwing a huge pile of wood to the burning fire of adolescent reasoning and it certainly did that for me when i read him (similar case with camus, sartre, etc) and i welcomed it entirely because it helped me explore those perspectives; a little bit of that fire is still burning bright in me, now in my 30s.

absolutely horrid? nah man... rondha byrne is absolutely horrid.

I respect that. I just decided long ago to abandon reading any philosophy that seeks truth or answers to the other questions of life. My tastes moved East and to Chinese thought. Try reading Lin Yutang's 'The Importance of Living" otherwise known as the 'Noble Art of Leaving Things Undone.' Slowly, it is changing me.

i will! i'll look for it at the library. i'm not too knowledgeable on that subject, and i'm always wanting to expand. although, during my college years, i read lao tzu (tao te ching) and of course, sun tzu.

Theres lotsa wisdom in leaving shit alone. Fucking with things is how we screw up about 1/2 the time. Leave it alone, and wait.

I recall a classic Gahan Wilson cartoon: A professor-type is sitting at a bar next to a huge android robot. Addressing the bartender: "He's programmed to take me home the moment I start quoting Nietzsche!" :)

along those lines of humor, there is an insanely comical piece from mcsweeney's in which nietzche is a bartender:

bloody brilliant. made me chortle, in a dark, humourless tone

Most shifts I find myself desiring nothing more than the sweet bliss of annihilation.

Please refrain from singing. The true Übermensch, capable of downing shot after shot until the bottle is empty, never succumbs to the awful urge to bellow along with the jukebox (that despiser of the ears) playing Boston’s “More Than A Feeling.” Such men, paragons of Hellenistic stoicism, are few and far between in a place such as this.

Management denies my own requests to play Wagner on the sound system.

As your bartender and unwilling enabler, I feel compelled to inform you that neither this establishment’s cheerful “party” lighting, nor even its Jalapeño Popper Madness special ($4.99 on Fridays), will prevent the fundamental cruelties—strife, lust, deceit, old age, and death—from encroaching upon your person. You want another drink? Your apathy cannot handle another drink. You have no Eris, no jealousy or hatred or envy to drive you to further heights of activity. In place of struggle and the joy of victory, I suggest you order the Double Whammy Burger with fries. The kitchen says we are out of jalapeño poppers. Such is life.

Did anyone start a new 'record your voice' thread yet?

If so, please link me.
