Ex-boyfriend filmed girl's death leap so he would not be blamed

A man filmed his former teenage girlfriend leaping to her death on his mobile phone because he feared he would be blamed for her death.

Joanne Griffiths, 19, plummeted to her death moments after her ex-lover Gary Newell tried to talk her down.

An inquest heard Mr Newell filmed the tragedy because he feared he would be “blamed” if not.

Tesco worker Joanne was “finding it hard to cope” after breaking up with Mr Newell, the inquest heard.

She had been drinking heavily when she bumped into her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend in a bar.

Joanne had to be escorted out after arguing with him.
