So I wrote this story based on a dream that I had. Friends go to brunch and one gets drunk. blah blah blah. I cant finish. I have like four pages and I just cant get to writing down the smut (lets be honest). I have experience in the area but its just weird for me to get it on screen without sounding trite. Any tips?

Experience with such writing, or with getting drunk at brunch?

If it were a BDSM story they could stage an intervention for the brunch drunk and employ some aversion therapy.

once i get to the smut it just flows...but sometimes the 'pre smut' just grows...

What's the drunk gal doing? dancing (so she strips...)? passed out on top of the table (so her chum notices her sexy lingerie)? or maybe the drunk gal suddenly grabs a chum's hair, hauls their faces together & liplock follows?

maybe the drunk slurs: "Is that dessert?"

Originally I had it the drunk one causes the door to creak and the sober one stops and realizes she is watching. The Drunk one goes to take a shower and the roommate joins her.

I know but I hit a wall as I start writing the smut. Is there like an exercise or something I can do to get over that?

Don't think about it as smut. I would first figure out what smut you want to add.

I write diffrent from anyone I have ever meet. I generaly write out a little list of ideas for a scene. Say kissing, necking, so on. What I want them to do. Next I write out just the dialouge, imaging the rest in my head. Kind of like writing a tv script or a play. My stories have alot of talking. I read like this as well when a story starts getting boring to me I just read the dialouge and imagine the rest which is why every book I read I usualy read in a day. I try to do this with back story as well. I don't throw the back story all at once in the start of the story but kind of fill it in as a person would think about it. I write for myself first. I go back later and fill in the details and rewrite the dialogue usually shorting it. Just my way but after writing out the dialouge when I write the scene I usually already know what I am going to have them doing.

I used to do that too but then I forget the list and my attention runs elsewhere. I am going to give that a try again, it was very helpful. Thanks alot!

I recommend you call a friend, and the two of you act out the entire scene, with a video cam running. Then you can watch it later, and just write what you see. Oh, and post it at YouTube and give us the link while you're at it.

Failing that close your eyes and try to daydream the scene a bit at a time. Leave no detail unattended. Let it brew in there for a bit until you're confident you can re-imagine it forwards and backwards. Then it should just fly onto the page.
