Lesbian Help wanted...

Okay, let's get this right...

I'm a forty year old straight male. I'm not looking to cyber, cam, or any of that stuff.

However, I am trying to be a better author. And to that end, I need help.

Guys all think they know about lesbian sex - after all, there are enough porno movies out there that show what goes on. But, just as all men don't have the porn stars 10" cock, so not all lesbian relationships are like the movies.

I want to write a story about a group of friends; a couple, a pair of singles and a lesbian couple - a sort of 'Friends' for Literotica. I can handle the straight side of things, but I need coaching (metaphorically, not literally) on the lesbian relationship.

So, how about it? Any lesbian ladies out there want to help? PM me if can, especially if you are, or have been, in a long-term relationship (which I envision for my characters).

Sami.

Good advise on reading Colleen's how to. That's quality. Or just read her stories and get inspired. They're quality too. :)

Other than that... I've not written much actual lesbian sex, but quite a lot about lesbian relationships (not here). And I've gotten plenty of the "How can you describe lesbians so well?"-reaction, from lesbians.

The answer is that they're people just like everybody else, and I write about thoughts and worries and passions and urges that people have, not any specific gender or orientation. When it comes down to it, we're all the same, except for genitalia, and other peoples' prejudice.

So my advice is: Don't fret it, just write what feels right. And check some of the top rated lez stories here on Lit for inspiration on the actual what-goes-in-where mechanics.

Btw, kind of interrrsting that the two replies so far are from blokes. ;)

That's 'cause all the ladies are currently busy.

Damn. I've reached that point in life where I can't even grouse convincingly.

To gently nudge the thread back on topic for a minute: I've got a strong hunch your success with stories in the lesbian category has a lot to do with your style. As you said,

"...I write about thoughts and worries and passions and urges that people have...,"

Guy-type writers have a tendency to "cut to the chase" and concentrate on the physical over the emotional in a sex scene.

Its not always girl meets girl meets 12 inch strap-on.

You can write a tender and erotic male/female thingie, then just kinda change it to her and her, and leave out that one little male body part.

For realism, put a short paragraph at the start where they compliment each other on thier new shoes.

Very true, the sex in my story Casting off Convention is exactly that, actually drawing a lot upon a Valentines day interlude between my girl and I, although it does have touches of some threesome encounters watching her with another woman too. It's probably still too "cut to the chase" for some readers, but I have picked up a lot of compliments on it, including a couple from proclaimed lesbians.

I agree with Liar. People are people. *shrug*

I've gotten some good comments on my one lesbian story, and I didn't really have the faintest idea what I was writing about. I confess, though, that I had lots and lots of help from Colly and Lucky when I got to the sex scene.

Thanks Lisa... I actually spat coffee all over my monitor when I read that...

To everyone who's replied here, and everyone who's PM'ed me, a big thanks... I'm gonna have to start writing... :)

Sami...

You certainly started something when you named this thread Samilong. Yeah, the responses from the guys are interesting, though as far as I can tell all of them are quite exceptional writers. The 'problem' with exceptional writers is that they're always looking to do it better. Whether the relationship they're writing about is F/F; M/M or F/M, there's always this feeling that 'next time I'll do it better.' It's what writing is all about.

I think the thing that appeals most to me about writing F/F sex scenes, is that I can explore the emotional aspect as much as the physical side. A number of my stories on Lit and elsewhere, have been written from the woman's perspective, maybe because, being a man, it's more of a challenge to write well than the usual 'Wham, Bam, Thank you Mam - probably without the thank you.'

Yes, Colly's article should be compulsory reading whatever your sexual preference. So called straights could learn a hell of a lot from it as well. Particularly about the emotional side. M/F sex scenes should also have a deep emotional aspect to them, but in my experience, that aspect is cast aside too easily in favour of a quick physical 'hit'.

So thanks for raising the subject, and good luck with your writing.

Chris :)

Lesbian relationships are the same as straight relationships with the following exceptions:

No men.

That is all. We have all the same troubles and benefits as any other couple, we pay bills, we eat, we play, we argue, we fight and we love.

I won't go into our sexual life - pick what you like from porn and make it work for your story and the personalities of the characters.
