Anybody interested in catching what may be the best meteor shower of the entire 21st century? The Leonid Meteors in the wee hours of Wednesday 11/19 are predicted to put on quite the show in the skies of North America. A full moon will bleach out many of the fainter shooting stars, but rates of between 1000 and 6000 per hour are expected!
Get away from city lights for the best veiwing, and if you can find a site where buildings, hills or trees block out the moon that's even better. I'm a Southern Californian, and I'll be heading into the high desert late Tuesday night with a lawn chair, a blanket, and a thermos of coffee. Last year's Leonid shower was during a new moon, and 1000 shooting stars per hour were predicted. It was spectacular, and this year is going to be better!
