You know how you have to "sign" things on adult content web pages? It always says something about it being legal in your area. How do you find out if it is legal in your area?

call the cops and say hey is it ok for me a XX year old to view www.whatever.com in this town

Or you can head to your local library (great if you have a legal library nearby) or contact the District/States attorney in your area who can point you in the right direction. I don't know that the police would know right off hand. When I worked for the police department, it's not a question I would have been able to answer.

Because typically, some one files a complaint. It is then up to the District Attorney's office or the State Attorney's office to determine if a law is broken. Or, they can go before a sitting judge and request a warrant.

In any case, their job is to enforce the law, not interpret it.
