Sure, it's not impossible. It likely requires travel (and I don't mean going on a cruise) or being young. Or reading books rather than looking at the internet.
Or, as history shows us, to be betrayed from within the cult (ie committing suicide in the bunker or, preferably, fleeing abroad to Moscow or the UAE...though we're a long way from that yet...).
These guys are old men, for the most part. They aren't changing. Asking them to think is asking them to be different from their friends and family. Why would they do that?
It's far more important for people to feel part of their tribe - and all the security and certainty that brings - than to think differently.
We all die alone.
I’ve seen epiphanies in the last months of a few former conservatives. Even my filthy rich in-laws are reconsidering what truth is. They recently told my wife that of everyone in the family, she is the most Christ-like because of how she sees homeless people as people who are worth care and respect, not as garbage to be taken out.
My conservative Catholic stepfather finally saw through Trump’s lies and reflected on the 10 commandments. He was no democrat but he knew he couldn’t righteously support such a man.
