Anybody ever hear of the legend and have the thought pop into mind to do a story on it? You know, where the hikers get lost in the woods and the Leeds Devil finds them/they find him and one thing leads to another?

Never heard this one.

The most popular version of the story is that Jane Leeds was pregnant with her thirteenth child and wished that it would be born a devil so she wouldn't have to support and deal with it. (The family was dirt-poor and hardly getting on as it was.) The labor was normal, the baby was born a normal boy, but sprouted horns, a tail, claws, and wings. His body stretched out horribly and his face deformed itself until it looked much like a horse or mule. The baby killed the midwife and escaped into the woods.

There have been reported sightings ever since then - some 250 years - around the area. Many were made by the local authorities and bigwigs, others by people internationally known and respected, and even more by the occasional tourist or passerby.

i just thought it would be a little different to have a story built up around the legend. After all, that's why New Jersey's known, isn't it? ;)

That little devil....

I am thinking: Her 13th baby was the devil .... I am curious, who made her pregnant .... :)

I've heard of the seventh son of a seventh son, but this... How many siblings did her husband have? 12?
