Leeann Twedden, Hooters Spokesperson, FOX News

Al should have had better taste.

I guess some guys just love them Republican whores. That's redundant. It should be "some guys just love them Republicans.

Your attitude towards women you disagree with is despicable. She could be an active working prostitute and she still doesn't deserve to be mistreated.

This message will whiz right above the head of her and Vera.

But wait for their latest scissor post on the Poli board.

I agree.

I am pleased however that Al Franken has and is taking some appropriate steps to address the situation. Unlike, say, Moore and Trump. And more despicably, Trump in his hypocrisy castigating Franken while he's got a glass house at least a dozen miles high.

There are a lot of windows on Trump Tower aren't there? The man is clearly insane. I think that a lot of that goes along with the mindset that allow someone to be an abuser- they don't think they are.

I heard Moore interviewed and I am quite sure any objective ear wpuld hear the obvious dissembling, minimizing, and his unhealthy understanding about women and sexuality. I had to turn it off when he said something about a woman who did not accuse him of specific impropriety as being "as far as I remember, a good girl." Classic whore/madonna thinking.

Al Franken and Louis CK are the only people who have been accused who I think handled the accusations with honor and dignity. It probably helps that they are both writers and took the time to craft a message that was actually appropriate.

Jesus Christ, I agree with the RW retards. Kill me now.

It is quite telling, the comparison between Louis CK and Franken and the rest of the men that have been accused. I don't know if part of it is age or just complete arrogance, perhaps both.

I can tell you I hear inappropriate things at my office several times a week. I think there is a certain tone deafness that is present in our society when it comes to sexuality and women. There is a definitive permissiveness that men assume when it comes to these types of comments. There are times it takes all of my self control to deal with it. While, ironically, they don't engage any - or precious little - of theirs. It makes me have a certain lack of respect for them.

She works for FOX and is a Hooters Spokesperson and Al Franken traumatized her?
Three parts there:

1) "She works for FOX..." legitimately shows she's a political tool here.
2) "...and is a Hooters Spokesperson..." is slut-shaming that highlights:
3) "...and Al Franken traumatized her?" which is indeed damn funny.

Do #2, and noting her background as a nude model, slut-shame her? No, models and spox don't deserve ANY abuse. But is her career relevant? Has she been accused of sluttish behavior, and if so, by who? If not, should her career be mentioned?
_____

Some see a need to grade the levels of non-consensual sexual abuse.

I doubt many would find equivalence in the accused behaviors of Franken, Moore, and Tromp. Franken apparently shows no pattern of abusive behavior. So there's one criterion for grading: Are there strong allegations over a period of time with many victims?

Another issue: power imbalance. Moore, an authority figure (a fucking prosecutor, hey!) stalking powerless schoolgirls. Tromp, a rich man who could make or break a young woman's career. Franken, not in a position to jail or fire anyone. The criterion: Can the accused damage the victim's life?

An obvious, simple issue: how far did the accused go? USAnians know the baseball metaphors: 1st-2nd-3rd Bases, Home Run! And Strikeout for failure. I'd add Batter's Box up front, for personal-space penetration and preliminary touching. (Yeah, "personal space" is variable. Are you in a crowd or in the open? Does your culture demand more or less space? Etc.)

Related to the degree of intimacy is, just when did the victim express non-consent? And is that relevant? At any point when the victim says STOP or DON'T or NO, and the accused proceeds, THAT is assault IMHO.

I don't know where to take it from there, or if it's a totally unworkable layout. Your suggestions are welcome.

Why should we believe all women and refuse to believe the men in these things automatically?

Is it not a fact that in court cases about alleged sex assaults, the woman usually loses?

Are we being asked to hold females to a lower standard?

This sounds like privilege, yes?

I think it stems from the fact that society, at least in the USA and most western civilizations, downplayed it, ignored it, or otherwise tried to sweep it under the rug in favor of the perpetrator. Fortunately, allegations like this are taken seriously now....HOWEVER....I have to agree that the presumption of guilt seems automatic these days, and a man trying to "disprove" allegations of sexual assault are an almost impossible battle. Society doesn't seem to adhere to the "Innocent, until proven guilty" way of thinking.

Much like Gov't, it's either way too little, or way too much.

Privilege- in this case, way too much, after way too little.

Some women just deserve to be assaulted. You never know what you're gonna get when you drag a hunnerd dollah bill through the trailer pahk. Who here hasn't wished it upon Sarah Palin (or her daughters)?

Now you've gone and done it, making the snowflakes face up to the paradox they've constructed for themselves.
