I learned something new yesterday, and I thought I would share it.

In mixed, polite company someone muttered, "Army split infinitive."

When asked later he explained that the "army split infinitive" is "Too fuckin' true."

Anyone else got any nice little euphemisms like that?

B,JFB is generally a sarcastic comment about a situation or event and seldom applied to females.

Youdo have the most probable response when it is applied to a female and the reasonit seldom is. ;)

Not in the same league I know but some years ago I worked with a great executive of senior years who could be heard to utter in exasperated tones when searching for papers and the like "I've got CRAFT"...Can't Remember A Fucking Thing!
To this day I can't hear the word craft without thinking of this.

:)

In trying to figure out what part of speech "Well" was, I came across something interesting called (I think) a "sentence adverb":

However, you may be right.

"However" is a sentence adverb. It modifes the meaning of the entire sentence. I think that might be what "Well" is in things like "Well, I just won't go."

Off another wall, I learned the term lapsus calami, which is Latin for a slip of the pen. Since I've learned it, I've been seeing them everywhere.
