Okay I have sat back and read it (ya know after I was done driving all the way across country to get home)

Does anyone else want to bang their head against the wall after reading it?

I gave up on her a couple of years ago. I used to enjoy reading her stuff. Now there is more porn in her books than a lot of stories here on Lit. Not even that well written porn either.

If you are interested in some similar works as her early stuff, give some thought to Jim Butcher and his Dresden Files or C.E Murphy's Shaman series. Or for the film noir buffs who enjoy a view similar to Terry Pratchett, check out Simon Green's Nightside series.

If you like vampires you can always read mine. :D

Never could resist giving a plug.

I was hoping... I really was.
I am not sure why she has gone down this particular path.

I haven't read it yet and now I'm afraid to read it. :( Is it really that bad?

she has gone missing somewhere
as have the strenght of the men around her

Jim Butcher is excellent, as is C.E Murphy. I also recommend Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series.

Hubby and I both gave up on Anita some time back. She's not only ceased to develop as a character, but she's regressed.

We were in B&N recently and hubby picked up the latest. He tried to get me to bet on whether or not the first page he turned to would be a sex scene. Being no fool, I declined. Never was one to take a sucker's bet.

Is this the Anita Blake series or the Merry Gentry? I haven't read any of the Anita Blake ones but am working my way through the Merry Gentry books.

Edited:-
I can be a bit blind at times LOL - I was going to start the Anita Blake ones next but I think I'll wait and see now.

Jim Butcher was seated very near to me at a recent booksigning. Talk about feeling like a small fry next to a very big fish!

Being a huge fan I have to say the latest in both suck.
I mean I love the Anita stuff and the Merry Stuff...
But it does seem that its all about the sex now and very little story line... other than more drivel to pull us into buying the next book... Which I did.. hoping hoping hoping that the story would Come through.... nope. Tiny little pieces... but that was it... Don't get me wrong the sex is GREAT.... but I want story tooo. Lots of story in between the sex...

The same thing is happening with Christine Feehans stuff. More sex less story...
but that is what most of the fans are demanding so that is what is being given from both authors...

I have been getting into Sherrilon Kenyon, Amanda Quick, and a few others. They seem to be telling the stories with sex thrown in... hehehehe.... great alternate histories here...

Done :) have a great weekend all

I've bought all her books. I just started the new one today, so can't give my opinion yet. Has anyone read Kim Harrison or Kelley Armstrong...if you like the older LKH, you'll love these authors.

That's how I felt after the last couple of books. I haven't read this one yet, my copy is on the way. In the beginning of the series, the characters were amazing and she wrote the stories like a good, hard-boiled mystery. Now, it's sort of like reading bad fanfic. :(

Hello! People unsatisfied with other writer's vampires?
