Laurel... What is wrong with the search?

It's a much-loved (at least by me) portion of this site, and if it can't be fixed could you at least give us your idea as to why it's not working?

Maybe I missed something somewhere, but I'd really like to know...

It's turned off. Our server is (once again) overwhelmed, and our host is out of town and upgrade it at the moment. The search is one of - if not the - most server-intensive processes on the BB. If we keep it on, the whole server will crash, and it will take the BB AND the site with it (that's what happened earlier today, in case you all were wondering). It's temporary - we will bring the search back as soon as we can. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!

Yes, having a successful site can be both a blessing and a curse. When I had mine up, I had to move twice because the servers couldn't handle the traffic and data transfers. And it wasn't even that popular. I'm talking about 5-8,000 hits a day.

Absolutely! And the BB burns CPU like crazy 'cause it's constantly accessing a database - it has to make several connections to pull in each page. It looks like in order to make the new scripts AND the BB work, we're going to have to get ANOTHER server, whose CPU will just handle the script and the BB. If this keeps up, we'll have a roomful of servers in a few years. Better go work on my design jobs, lol.

Alright! That kinda sucks, but I just wanted to know.
