Laurel/regulars--see anything strange about this?

I check the board today, and all the troll posts to Tiggs are deleted. Don't get me wrong, I think they should have been too, but then shouldn't all the troll posts be deleted? What about the one that attacked Siren, or accused Patryn or whoever of lying just like they did Tiggs? Or Fake Name a while ago? Or GUH!! Or any of the whole host of others? Seems only the favorites get protected. Gals and guys, I give you favoritism in its purest form.

I noticed a new option when I clicked edit this week. Above my test box is a little box to click if you want to delete the post instead of just edit it.

It states that if it is the first post in a thread you risk deleting the entire thread.

Maybe whom ever started the thread chose to delete it.

1) We still had the ability to delete our own posts and
2) A guest could use that feature if it were still here. Only reg. members could do it if it were enabled.

Nope, clear cut case of Laurel, Manu, or another moderator protected a favorite. Everyone else can just get accused and attacked I suppose. I'm not posting under my own name because I don't want to be the next one. Rumors will fly tho I'm sure of that.

The delete feature you see when you edit your posts has been disabled due to a big ol' clusterflock when Lasher deleted a post that happened to begin an exceedingly long thread and deleted everyone else with it. Only moderators can delete.

I find it odd that Tiggs' trolls' posts were all deleted. Not casting aspersions sweetie, but the circumstantial evidence is raising some questions, at least in my mind. You aren't the only moderator either, Ravenloft the Chivalrous Knight? Ambrosious the sweetheart? MackDaddy get his yet? All who may have protected you in a misguided effort.

While the trolls posts are no big loss, only moderators can delete them. Laurel deletes some, but she ALWAYS leaves a message that she did so and why she did so.

BBS,if you look at the bottom of the page,the bottom left to be exact,and read the fine print,messages can be changed(edited or deleted)by THE author.To me that sounds like if you write it registered or not,you can delete it.

Sorry, KM, it wasn't Lasher that did that. It was a registered troll named Lashraloo that caused that screw up. I remember it well.

tis true Mac D,,, I tried to delete one of my replies yesterday,,, no can do. Ended up editing it a bit instead.

While the loss of the trolls actual posts is no big deal,( as KM said ) this is a bit on the fishy side,,, and perhaps an explanation is in order ?

Does EVERYONE in authority have to deal with assholes accusing them of "favoritism"? If Laurel delted the posts she did it for a good reason, like the safety of a member or the disclosure of personal information, or something equally weighty which would have precipitated such action. What in her past behavior has every shown that she has been anything but monumentally fair and tolerant? If the board were run anything close to the way you describe we'd have moderators in our face on every thread and only Registered users. BBS Reg you're pissing up a river with this one I think.

You can't delete an entire thread anymore, but you can edit your posts -- but only if you're Registered. Unregistered Trolls cannot go back edit or delete anything.

For the record, at 1:30-1:40 PM CST I have gotten online for the first time since going to bed at the wee hours of the morning. I had and have nothing to do with this, but I know who does. I never personally asked for those posts to be deleted and was quite shocked when Ezzie told me the news of it, and new trolls, over the phone.

I was online last night and I read the troll posts. I don't think I've read anything as nasty and mean-spirited here before. Whomever this troll happens to be is a worthless piece of shit as far as I'm concerned.

Threatening? How can that be. Here I am sitting in front of a computer, behind the disguise of a fake name, conversing with other people with fake names (most of you), you don't know my real name, where I live, what I do, what I look like. You know a lot about me if you've read my posts, you may hurt my feelings or anger me, but there is no way I'll ever feel threatened physically.

If Laurel thought it was best to delete these posts, it's her castle. We are nothing more than welcome guests, and we can leave anytime we like.

Did you look? You would notice. I could care less about the deleting of trolls posts, except for two tiny reasons.

1) I don't particularly care for Tiggs' views on life in general, what if we had a spat on the board and suddenly I found my posts edited or deleted?

and

2) Laurel refused to delete the posts of trolls before for others such as Patryn, Shila, and several "Board Sweethearts" who were attacked by trolls. What makes Tiggs special?

3) I don't have any trolls of my own, I'm rampantly jealous. The closest I've come is Ramlick and that was rather disappointing. *sigh*

I'm blowing this out of proportion, aren't I. I'm going to shut up now.

KM, I don't have to read it (in fact, I think I probably already did). I didn't say this particualr troll was threatening, I said that if Laurel decides to delete somthing there a number of very good reasons why, and the act of deleting doesn't then neccessarily become a "right" that anyone can ask for during spats. I'm perfeclty happy to let Laurel make a moral judgement whenever the hell she wants. In my experience, she has allowed a myrriad number of reprehensbile people spew their pus at herself and other people BBS Reg might call her favorites, so it's not like she's got a woody for some fabled fifth column or something. That's just so not in the record, and I'm pointing it out for anyone who hasn't been here as long as me.

Simple ... Laurel will do what she sees fit, if she saw fit to remove them then that is her right, after all it is her site.

BUT .... I do agree with you on the fact that others have been blatantly attacked and nothing was done. SOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm thinking that obviously something more has happened for Laurel to take this stance.

If we don't know the whole story then things like this are going to happen ... Questions that some people want answered.

Excuse me here, but I really don't see the big deal. "Beyond your control", Laurel? I can see where you wouldn't want to be sucked into this, whatever, but I can only assume from your post that you mean some kind of legal action or something with the poster's ISP or something similar to that.

Maybe the post might get the asshole who posted it kicked off their ISP, but that's about it. While they were a complete jerk, they didn't threaten anyone. All they more or less said was "you're lying" which is something we've heard time and again here. So he's a jerk, so what? He -and for some reason I'm assuming it was a guy- didn't really do anything wrong. Being an asshole isn't a crime or we'd have probably all been locked away at one time or another.

Now before you think I'm standing up for the troll, I'm not. What they said should have been deleted like I said before, because it wasn't even sarcastic or mildly entertaining in its stupidity, but OTOH, people, grow a skin. That's been said before too. What can this person do to you, Tiggs? Hurt your feelings, of course, but only if you let them.

Whoever it is probably doesn't have the mental capacity to think past a fifth grade level anyway, so why all the fuss? Next time somebody fights, is there going to be a lawsuit? Some of you guys are just taking all this a little too seriously.

Rape is serious, and Tiggs, if it happened I'm genuinely sorry to hear it, but if I were you I would devote my time to finding the asshole and cutting off his balls with a rusty kitchen knife than alerting a whole army to find an anonymous internet moron who slung a few insults at you.
