Latex and Rubber

Okay, what the hell is up with the whole latex/rubber fetish? I don't get it at all. Can someone who does please explain it to me?

This guy just sent me all these pics of people dressed up in latex, and their mouths seem to be covered a lot of the time; is it related to the whole erotic asphyxiation thing? Do these people just really, really like Catwoman and Batman?

I'm thinking about getting to know this fellow, so I'd kind of like to know what this is all about...

Have you asked him what his perception of things is?

I've not heard of the subject being linked to asphyxiation, really. Some people like the feeling of bondage latex or rubber gives them; some like the hot discomfort of being in materials that don't "breathe", some people may like the scent or texture, some people just enjoy it because they do and don't worry about "why".

If you know someone who has some that might fit you or if you have access to a store that sells quality rubber wear, or even if this friend of yours has some, ask to try it on. You will then either totally get it or still not get it on a personal level.

Intellectually, all of the above may be true. Enclosure, breathplay -- often that's part of the experience, but the person who enjoys heavy rubber breathplay is not necessarily also going to settle for the free plastic bag over the head variety. It may be the smell, the feel -- the feel of being in it is hard to describe. The feeling of running your hands over someone wearing it is also quite addictive.

My Master likes wearing latex and rubber because it brings him into character its black which gives the preception of being bad

I think the crossover between rubber and asphixiation is possibly related to gas masks or the airtight appeal of rubber.

What's the appeal of rubber? I have been into rubber since before I knew much about BSDM. In my teens, I had a fascination with surfers purely for the wet suit. It's skin tight, hides nothing and shows off a great body. I like the way you can see a man *breathe* when he's wearing skin tight rubber.

I think tight, black and shiny is erotic and sensual. I like the sounds rubber makes. To me, it's hotter than leather. Not just literally.

I like to wear it myself, and I love to see it on a man. I also love it as bondage gear -- masks, straitjackets, etc.

Wet suits are usually made from neoprene actually, not rubber or latex.

My girl janey has owned and worn wetsuits for a number of years, no problem. And she is, literally, deathly allergic to latex. Lay hands on her with latex gloves, or a latex condom - instant skin irritation and welts, if she inhales any of the dust from the gloves, it's I hope we have an epi-pen handy and instant trip to the ER.

Sorry we can't help you out here, Mz D. There is absolutely NO fascination with the gummi fetish/latex wear on either of our parts.

Just like the OP, id absolutely no idea, what the deal was with rubber/latex. I kinda thought it looked cool, but was more drawn to pvc for the wet look thang.
Then, i put on my first wet suit, before body boarding. My mates had all gone on ahead, but coz id put my one on back to front, i had to hang back in the changing room on the beach to turn it around.
Thank god!
Got it on, grabbed the zip, and zipped it up. Jesus, it hit me immediately, just like Natzech says, you either get it, or you dont.
My whole body was restrained in some sort of way, equal pressure applied all over my skin, it was a awesome feeling. I had to get me some of this stuff.
But forgot about it for a while.
Then got taken to a latex night at a club, and just gawped enviously of the wonderful outfits around me.
I 'get in' on a few levels.
To me, looking at anyone masked, is disconcerting. Seeing someone in a full head mask and in rubber from head to toe, does things for me. I cant 'read' their expressions. You just dont know what's going on behind the mask. Im fearful and excited at the same time.
Also, for me, the asthetics are very pleasing of seeing it tightly stretched across skin is hot hot hot. In more ways than one.

I have since bought a couple of items (and yes, they are pricey and im not rich) so my wardrobe has to be saved for.
Constriction type of bondage excites me. I love to be corsetted with the laces tied very tightly so i cant breath properly, also into breath play. Notice a theme here?
Rubber, although less intensly, provides this feeling of restriction and restraint.

The first item i bought were stockings. Hey they wont ladder so a good investment. Then stood on a coffee table, my very very obliging Sir, shined them up for me. The gentle caress through rubber is wonderful. And once shined up, they look like pvc, all wet and sllippery looking.
Then i got some long gloves. And might i just add, that my latexed hands around his cock are just sooo hot to look at. I can kind of depersonalise them, its like watching someone elses hands stroking his cock, so the voyuer in me gets a cheap thrill too.
We've taken many photo's of our play, the ones in rubber, are for me, the hottest.
Then came the knee length pencil skirt. My god, i defy anyones ass to not look good in one of these! I have a bit of libido = self esteem thang, so if i 'think' i look hot, i get hot. Great.
The whole shebang is a win win situation in my book.
Go to a store, or your friends, try it on and take a look at yourself. Like Natzech says, you'll either get it or you wont.

 I don't know why I enjoy it and certainly don't worry 'why' ;)
