LATER..the presentation. Room ServiceII.
Claire IC:
There was only a few hours sleep between me leaving the gang and waking to prepare myself for the job I was in New York to do.
That presentation had to be done, despite Clarke controlling me.
I made ready, called a cab and then noticed Lupe at the reception desk as I left. She gave me a wink of her eye and I returned a smile in her direction. It was beautiful morning as I recall and the city that never sleeps was as busy as ever. The cab drew up outside the conference centre and I remembered not to tip the driver too heavily this time.
I found my way to the conference room on the 25th floor, looked out across the city and then prepared my presentation. The people who were there to meet me numbered Clarke as one and he just looked at me and smiled. I returned the gesture, waited to be called and then looked out at the auditorium full of businessmen, art dealers, historians and archaeologists mainly. I was nervous, but soon got myself into the stride of things, remembering everything I was taught, helped by the number of slides as I clicked through them one by one.
One hour and fifteen minutes later I was done. I answered questions from the auditorium as best as I could and one questioner stood out more than any other. A young man, not much older than me. An archaeologist who said he was from Ontario. His question was straight and precise, easy for me to answer directly.
Afterwards I packed away my things and as I left the office I was given for the morning the gentleman stood before me at the door.
"Miss Newton? My name is Steven Lockwood, I'm an undergraduate archaelogist, remember my question back there? " he held out his hand to me and smiled. "You were very interesting. I'm very interested in what you were saying, about the retrival of certain artifacts. Can we talk somewhere more convenient?"
"Of course......do you know of anywhere convenient?" I replied.
