Donovan covered his mouth as another long wonderful feeling yawn escaped from his lips. He shook his head, tryng to force himself to wake back up. He'd read the same paragraph over and over three times and each time he tried to move on he realized his brain hadn't stored any of the information he'd just read. He glanced up at the clock, paling slightly when he saw the time. It wasn't a surprise he was so tired, it was closing in on two in the morning and he'd been up studying straight since seven the previous morning. With a groan he shut his eyes, telling himself he just needed a moment to get his headache gone.
Donovan knew he wasn't going to do well on this final at all, the proof that he was unprepared reflected in his nearly twenty hours of study the day before. This was always his style though, procrastinate and pull everything together at the end. Unfortunately this time he'd procrastinated even longer than normal. He groaned as he once again forced his eyes open, wrenching away the peaceful embrace of sleep as he looked around the empty room. The last few people had left almost an hour ago, completing their studies or just giving into the urges that Donovan was denying himself. He sighed heavily and wrenched the book back open, convinced he was going to learn a semester's worth of chemistry in one night. Thank God the library was open twenty four hours during final's week.
He blinked slightly, focusing his eyes as he continued reading about molecular bonds and covalent ionization. The words once again began to run together and Donovan swore silently as he tried to force himself to digest as much information as he could. It was then he noticed the sound of shoes clicking against the tile floor of the stairs leading up to this level of the library. He narrowed his eyes slightly, wondering who would be just now showing up to the library at this time, and his eyebrows tried to climb off his head in surprise when he saw the person emerge from the floor below...
