Sexual Survivor

Perhaps the tournament could be like a "sexual survivor" Each contestant is graded on his or her performance.

Only those with the best grades get to go.

It is not always the most beautiful who win either. As we all known the brain is the real sex organ.

There is a story in the same vein as that over in CHYOO. The difference is a virus wiped out most men, so a bunch of high-schooler males (the few remaining, of course) are to go about propagating with the young women. It's an early thread starter - maybe two years now - and has been popular enough to have some deep threads.

Here is the rub, Only 20 people get to go. 10 males and 10 females so there is a choosing period.

Thousands are tested for basics. Young, good DNA, not related, females 20-y-o brainy, males a mix of ages, practical and brainy.

They are going to form an ideal social order where there is no competition for sex or money. It takes several months to plan.

They are tested for personality and must be totally compatable.

The men and women will all sexually active with each other. All males must have sex with all females.

Parties are organized to meet each other and as part of the elimination process.

Plotting to get people on or off the list.

Fimal 200 to be reduced to 20; if anyone objects to anyone else they are off the trip.

As the ship lifts off the site is overrun.

So far so good.

The problems are a cast of thousands, and how to stop the hoi polloi from wrecking the whole thing.
Even if we ignore most of the losers, we still have a cast of 40+, which implies maybe 100,000 words!
Maybe only a few go, with a lot of embryos in deep freeze?
Do we keep it a secret? With thousands knowing, not one tells?
Do we sequester them during testing and kill the failures, to keep the secret (and they are dooomed anyway)?

Any more ideas?

Some lovers could elect to stay behind rather than break the pair bond they have formed.

The scene could flash forward 200 years into the future into a sociaty that has at it's core value open sexual relationships. The complete dissalution of the nuclear family and into the communal one.

Like survivor perhaps we are down to a few, Finalists who need to make the cut.

Even if we are down to the few to make the cut, in one centre, it is still a minimum of half a dozen charaters at (say) 3,000 words per character, and a lot of establishing text for the story line.

Some lovers could elect to stay behind rather than break the pair bond they have formed.

This might make a short story, but again there is going to be a very slow start establishing what they are rejecting.

The scene could flash forward 200 years into the future into a sociaty that has at it's core value open sexual relationships. The complete dissalution of the nuclear family and into the communal one.

And we are back to a cast of thousands, or even if we concentrate on three or four (which makes portraying a non-nuclear family difficult) these are all new characters.

All in all, I think we have a Carl Sagan level novel (size, complexity, writer ability needed) here. It is a good idea, but who has the time?

On the bright side, if we start 200 years in the future, how about opening lines:

"What's a mother?"
"Go wash your mouth out with soap and water."

Does anyone else think this sounds like "When Worlds Collide?" If so the book was just so-so and the movie was aweful. Besides wouldn't it be better if 19 horny guys went and one VERY luck woman?

Actually my ship does not preclude just the scenario you mentioned. My thought was that as each woman reached her prime ovulation time she would be serviced by 10 males. I know that 10 is less than 19 but it's 9 more than one. The servicing could take place over the several days of her ovulation. She would be very well fucked for at least a week.

Yes, it's the doubter again.

So let's assume the women don't synchronise their menstrual cycles (and that does happen fast in closed communities) then we have 3 days in 30 of fertile period and 10 women, so the men never get a rest? If the women aren't exactly scheduled then there are times when two are on at once, and the man have double duties. In reality most of the women will synchronise and there will needto be one mad orgy for a week every month and the men will die of over-work.

Different Stories

You could get a ton of different stories out of this. Maybe you could work on it as a chain story? Someone could write the set up, someone really into sci-fi. What if the couple mentioned earlier were two of the important people working on the project? it could set up the scenario and set up how they selected people but still show their sacrifice.

Then you could flash forward a chapter two the space-ship. Follow one or two or three characters (each author would do a different character) and see what's going on on-board.

Flash forward to the future. At least one chapter a few hundred years in the future, to let us know how they're doing.

As ever, the genius of Chicklet wipes out most of my objections in a single posting. I'll volunteer to do the SF chapter and the necessary backgroud details, if someone else will do the organising, chivvying and the rest of the chapters?
