I was sitting here, the tv was off, doing the usual and I heard a sinister laugh. I got up and looked around, but saw nothing. There is no logical explanation. I don't believe in ghosts but I kinda think it might have been a ghost, spook, specter, manifestation, or a killer rapist.

What's "the usual"? Were you near a window or a wall in the home with poor insulation? Were any neighbors outside? Any gaming systems in the house that might have been left on in idle mode? PSP, gameboy, etc? My son has a habit of leaving his PSP on when playing games and for several nights i kept hearing strange voices and laughing. Finally it dawned on me as I saw it lying on the kitchen table so I picked it up and sure enough that's what it was.
