What's the weather like in early Jan.? Last time I was there was last May and it was 90's all the time. Will be coming again for a short vacation in a couple weeks to do all the things I didn't get to do last time, but might depend a little on the weather.

January weather in Vegas

If it's nice the sun will shine, the wind won't blow, and the temperature will sneak up into the 60s, sometimes approaching 70.
If it's rotten the wind will be blowing and it will be cool to cold. Chances for snow are slim and none. Most of the time, though, January more nearly approaches the conditions described in the first paragraph, particularly if you come later in the month.
One note: No matter how nice it is during the day, once it gets close to sunset the temperature drops quickly.

Much obliged. I trust the words of residents more than regional weather reports. I'll try to remember not to get caught in the Red Rock Canyon at sunset.

Sure beats the half foot of snow we're expecting on christmas.

If you're going to gamble, do so at a casino frequented by locals. The Gold Coast is just off the strip, and I've had some success there. Of course, I don't gamble any more, so that tells you something.
If you're playing table games rather than slots or video poker, just pick one where you know the rules and are comfortable with the limit.

Yeah, I remember. Although one of the locals made a recommendation about a casino slightly off the strip that the local population frequented instead of the regular ones. She chatted my ear off, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna sleep with a 50 year old woman.

Don't worry... I'll go through all my spending cash, but I'm gonna spread it out. The happy 2 dollar blackjack tables will keep me content as a lark for hours on end. Low stakes = low stress.
