Spent much of his career writing about and dealing with one pandemic; died in the midst of another one. A true pain in the ass and American original.

Among his other achievements, he wrote the screenplay for Women In Love, so if you ever thought to yourself, "Only a gay man could have come up with Alan Bates and Oliver Reed wrestling naked for no particular reason," you were correct.

the wrestling scene is in the book so it makes sense. and, come on, the director was ken russell.

i hated larry kramer as a person but i admired him for what he did. he's the one who founded gmhc, then when he got thrown off of their board for being too radical he founded act-up. and his novel 'faggots' (pre-aids) is a scream. quote: "my honeypot's on fire and my face seats 5."
