Lag on Lit?

I occasionally experience major lag with the Literotica forum. This tends to be only with the forum (i.e., stories are fine), and it makes it so bad that I can't even use the forum - I give up and come back later. I know I'm missing some good threads because of this. Does anybody else experience this problem too? Does anybody have any suggestions on getting around it?

I'm using IE6 on Win98, FWIW.

Yeah I get it too. Not just here but on a couple other forums and websites as well. As far as I know (and I am far from an expert) it has something to do with the server the particular website is hosted on, not something with your individual computer.

In other words I don't think there is anything that can be done.

Any large site gets intolerable lag, but frankly at the moment Lit is one of the lighter ones. I usually have several pages running at once, just because of the slowness of loads, and Lit is significantly faster than E2 or Gutenberg or most other amusements.

Yeah I get lag sometimes too. It can be annoying. I think it's just high frequency traffic. And who else thinks Etoile is really beautiful?

I was told not too long ago , board suffer from lags due to traffic and also the Pm boxes being full ( I swear ) . We were asked to dump our PMs and sent folder on this other site and it sped it up quite nicely.

Whoa, wait! Are you on E2? You know about the Literotica node, right? :) And actually, I don't usually experience lag on E2. Then again, there are multiple servers.

Lit seems to be okay for now, but my girlfriend is here and she's reading porn next to me...

The literotica node is slow even with a high speed connection. Other pages seem to open fast like normal..

forget that last post

Right after that last post everything slowed to a crawl.

Deleted temporary internet files but that did not help this time.

I get the same lag from time to time, but it's very very random and only happens once or twice a week at the most. I'm in your area on verizon. I also get it at work once in a while and I have T1 there.

I'm not sure if it's Lit's site or just the traffic in this area.

Who knows... not much you can really do about it.

I've been lag for the past two day, and it has shown me that my addiction to Lit is insane and I should take a break and not get frustraited and upset when I can't log in or get stuck with "website not responding." oi...

Hi my name is Jackie... and I'm here for the doughnuts.

I had that too

I went away when i cleared the spyware crap from my comp and
reset the internet explorer security settings as well as havin had
replaced my user.dat file from a backup copy.

This also cured a popup problem i was having at the time as well.

Try erasing your index files and destroy all cookies while your at it.

I also went trough my computer file modification history for the time period of when the problems began occuring...
and got rid of and replaced suspicious files modified and or created then.

Got to love them backup copies.

i hope that my advice was halpfull.

I learned long ago that when dealing with a piece of shit program such as windows ... it is good to make an ungodly number of backup copies of your important files and aplications.

Heh, no thanks, I prefer not to delete all my cookies, etc. It's an intermittent problem, so I don't think it would be anything else. I assume it's just the network. Seems to be okay for now, so I have some catching up to do.

i get an intolerable amount of lag when i use my pc with windows xp pro. however, my mac with os 9.2 and some crappy old version of IE, Lit loads extremely quickly. it's such a big differnce that i just use my mac when i want to watse time here. i have no idea why I get lag with my pc, because it doesn't happen with any other sites i frequent. i also use differnt browsers and a differnce can be seen on occassion.

Etoile, I forgot to mention, the other thing I noticed about when I get lag, is the time of day. It's usually later in the day between say 4pm and 8pm. Which is probably primetime for the internet on the east coast. People get home from work and head toward the computer. Nothing to really do about that besides wait it out.

Anyhoo... better luck with your connection.

I've been seeing the lag for about two days. It's showing up on netscape and IE, but sometimes one or the other will go right through. I run XP and haven't seen this as a problem anywhere else. Of course,it could be an indication that there is an attack on the servers again.
:D

Well i really wouldnt be suprised if it were the government.

you know what they say... "big brother is everywhere"

"they... are watching"

pretty soon we will all have a chip in our heads simply for reasons of "national security".
