Too often women who made/make a difference are lost to history when their stories are no longer told. This effects the younger women who have no role models, other than the ones put up by the commercial or political establishments.
Case in point.
The women behind Sykes-Picot
Jane Digby, Gertrude Bell and Freya Stark had lives as illustrious as their male counterparts in the Middle East.
Three women who dared to be greater than the social conventions anticipated. They could be fictionalized to make their stories more entertaining, perhaps as I would bet the details of their lives are poorly documented.
