Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled, 5-4, to uphold President Trump’s order limiting travel from several mostly Muslim countries

Writing a dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor quickly zeroed in on the president’s Islamophobia as the animating principal behind the ban.

As the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake noted on Twitter, the ruling goes so far as to allow the president to ban entire nationalities, rather than smaller classes of people.

ICE Allegedly Assaulted and Locked Up Immigration Attorney Trying to Reunite Mother and Child

An immigration attorney says she was locked up and left with a broken foot after being “knocked to the ground and bloodied” by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer while trying to reunite a three-year-old child with his mother at a facility in Kansas City.

Martinez said the officer refused her medical treatment and didn’t allow her to call emergency services.

“This was because he was mad that he had so many cameras filming him in the ICE parking lot as he was deporting my 3-year-old client and his pregnant mother,” she said in the statement.

Trump abducted the undocumented immigrants' children- his goons are flying, and trucking the children 1,000-3,000 miles, away

The parents of the children are moved from the original detention facilities, to new locations, 1,000 miles away.

Not very easy, or convenient to enable re-unification with their children.

Most of the detained children do not have private lawyers. Catholic Charities of New York has a federal contract to provide them all with legal services.Catholic Charities' contract is to represent unaccompanied minors in foster care in New York City. In the past, those were older teens who came to the border alone fleeing persecution or violence and Russell said very few needed foster care because they were usually released to relatives in the U.S. But he called the current situation "unprecedented" because there are now 300 younger children, mostly under the age of 12, in federal foster care in New York City.

"Who is Cayuga,* who is Catholic Charities to put roadblocks in front of a family that says I want my own lawyer?" he said, referring to the fact that the three siblings he's representing have been in foster care for a month and he still hasn't seen or spoken to them. "I find that troubling."

Office of Refugee Resettlement operates a Guantanamo Bay for children- It is a jail, they arrest teen agers that crossed the border on their own, or have been separated from their parents. They are detained for being suspected of being connected to MS-13. Yes, they are tormenting teens.

ORR maintains that most kids spend only a few weeks in custody, usually in low-security shelters, before they are released to parents or sponsors. But under Trump, immigrant children are being held for longer periods of time. In October, an agency spokesman said the average length of detention was 38 days. By June, that time had increased to 49 days. Now it’s up to 56 days. For some kids, it can be much longer. A lawsuit filed by the ACLU of New York identified 45 kids who have been detained for an average of eight months.

De Blasio told reporters the children at Harlem's Cayuga Center included a 9-year-old Honduran boy sent to the center 2,000 miles by bus after being detained at the border. He said the youngest child there is 9 months old.

The lines of asylum seekers at some locations on the border seem to have waned in recent days as the U.S. government's treatment of migrants has come under scrutiny.

Two Guatemalan sisters, ages 20 and 24, nevertheless continued waiting Wednesday on a bridge connecting the Mexican city of Matamoros with Brownsville.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra sued the Trump
Administration Tuesday over its separation of undocumented immigrant children from their parents, as state officials confirmed that about 50 separated children, including two in Pleasant Hill, were living in state-licensed care.

Becerra and attorneys general from 16 other states took aim at the administration’s launch in early May of a “zero-tolerance” policy for people who illegally cross the southern border into the U.S.

The Supreme Court’s Wednesday ruling that public-sector unions can no longer charge mandatory fees to non-union employees deals a significant blow to public-sector unions across the country.

MJ: How did we get to this point where this case can effectively undermine public-sector unions?

CG: Anti-union groups have been planning for and litigating for this moment since the 1950s. The more recent explanation is that in 2012, in a case called Knox v. SEIU Local 1000, Justice Alito signaled he was open to very ambitious arguments from anti-union groups raising First Amendment arguments to protect union dissenters. So that opened the floodgates and led to the Friedrichs case and also Janus now and a slew of cases that are pending in the district courts and courts of appeals that are raising arguments that would go further than Janus or build on Janus.

Do you actually believe that people who oppose certain candidates should be required to pay for the campaigns of those candidates?
