Which precious and semi-precious gems do you prefer in your rings/earrings/pendants?...Guys...if you have a favorite...tell me about it.

CH

Hematite. Not a gem I realize, but I detest precious gems, they're too... something for me. Hematite and I work together like Bogey and Bacall.

Actually..Hematite is considered a low grade gem...but it's still very nice.

I love Emerald earrings, I have green eyes and like the way they look on me.. :) Other than that, I don't wear alot of jewelry.:)

The best Sapphire of the current day are mined in Sri Lanka...but the ones we can mine here in the USA actually should be considered as spectacular.

The Yogo sapphires of Montanna are usually very deep blue Lavender.

Most of the excellent Emeralds come from Columbia Simply Me...the USA version is only as good as a B-grade.

Tell me how I can get diamond jewelry WITHOUT subjecting myself to promoting DeBeers. I don't agree with their practices and therefore refuse to buy diamond jewelry.

Was that sarcasm I saw Lavender?...Hmmm...what you ask isn't an easy thing to accomplish...But I do recall a Canadian company that was suppying some NON-DeBeers diamonds on the Market...from a small diamond mine that was discovered there...btw...they men that owned the company...stole the geological core sample notes right from under the nose of some DeBeers people....while they were drunk.hahahahahaha

I read about it in the Lapridairry Journal.

Here in the USA so far...only one source of Diamond deposits exist...and they are NOT facet grade....more like drill bit grade.

Really, I can't decide. Tho the fact that I've never had anything with precious or semi-precious stones, I guess it's pretty hard to pick one.

Lavender....there is another way.

I do have some African contacts...I can get some facet grade Diamond...and I can facet it...or if you aquire some diamonds...I can still facet them.Trouble is...I personallly hate diamonds....but buisness is buisness.

Btw...you probaly don't know half of the disreputable crud that DeBeers has pulled...it's exstensive.

My first teacher in gem cutting was an old Jewish gentleman who survived Aushwitz...and went to S.Africa to leave his old demons behind, when he retired...he came here..and I met him soon after...then it all went uphill from there....and here I am.

Amethyst, then Citrine next.
They don't go all that well together though. :)

Amber is nice also.

Good morning!

Opals, without a doubt, are my most favorite gem. I find them to be very sensuous, also. With their light background and then having those bursts of blues and greens, sometimes even other colors depending on what you're wearing. They also happen to be my birthstone, so maybe I'm a little bit biased. ha!

I'm not really into diamonds, though, but I do have a pair of diamond earrings which I like to wear sometimes. Sapphires are incredible, too. I have a sapphire necklace and earrings which I wear when I'm feeling very sexy. There is something about wearing the deepest shade of blue on a very pale colored skin. It also brings out the blue of your eyes.

Okay, I'm spoiled and I love jewelry. It is my weakness.

My favorites are diamonds. I have a friend who married a gem dealer so I get great stones for jewelry I have made for me. Sapphires, emeralds, garnets, citrine, etc. etc. etc. By far though, the jewelry I wear most often is diamond pendant and diamond tennis bracelet.

Although my Son and Havocman are actually my most prized gem's, I picked Sapphire.

My birth stone is Sapphire and all through my life it's had a hold over me, I love the way it makes me smile when I see it.

I picked Amethyst for the poll, but I love Iolite (semiprecious, right?).

I also like/wear garnet, tanzanite, moonstone, peridot, opal triples, and amber, both the traditional gold color and red.

Since I own only one diamond, I'll take what I can get. I was just admiring the jewelry stores yesterday. The guy said, "can I help you" and I said it would be a cold day in hell before someone would give me anything in that store. I'm whining, aren't I, well I like many different stones. I'll fall in love with whatever I get. I do like diamonds.

i'm a gemstones collector

I have a quantity of cut, unset precious and colored gemstones in a big safe deposit box. I love to go run them through my fingers, cackling. The bank people think i'm a lunatic, i'm sure. ;)

My favorites to hold and touch and look at are the deeply pigmented green stones:
Chrome diopside
Demantoid garnets
Chrome tourmaline

I seem to have quite a lot of yellow and gold stones, too, though the color isn't my favorite and i rarely wear it (except for the amber jewlery i have, which i love, though i wear green amber far more often than yellow amber)
Chrysoberyl
Scapolite

I absolutely love looking at and wearing Andalusite for its color flashes and Indocolite for the sheer beauty of its color.

And (~ta da~) i even have one small (.35tcw... and *clean*) piece of bixbite.

I wear mostly sapphire, amber, and peridot (not all at the same time!) in my everyday life. Pearls, too. I've got lots of pearls.

Good topic.

Pearls..definitely pearls!

But only natural, never cultured.

I was given my first set on my sixteenth birthday and fell instantly in love with them.
