I am just curious about some thing ...

I have been on the pill for 1yr now and I take it correctly meaning that I take it at the same time every day. I never miss a pill.

My question is ... you ladies out there who are on the pill ... do you just use this form of birth control or does your S/O wear a condom.

Do you trust the pill alone ... or is there still that doubt that some how you might get preg. ??

I know the pill is not 100 %.

My understanding - the pill is sufficient for birth control. I never used a condom when I was with my ex. However a condom is essential if you are unsure of your partners 'cleanliness'.

I know what you mean when you refer to " cleanliness"

but did you ever think twice when it came to being with your ex... did doubt ever come in the picture... thinking maybe the pill was not enough ?

Do I even make sense ?!? :)

Pill or no pill, condom every time. It's just safer that way, along with being slightly safer in the pregnancy dept. Anyway, why would you Not use a condom?

You would think it was sufficient but..

I was on the pill for two years plus, always took it at the same time every morning, and never missed one, yet I got pregnant. Not only did I get pregnant, but I got my period for the first 4 months. I was throwing up so much, I went to the doctor. I actually went to 4 different doctors, and only got a positive result at the 4th. The others did the standard urine test, and all came back negative. The last one was the only one who drew blood. I was actually relieved I was prego, thought I was dying. LOL

Depo may be better but it is harder on your body. Its always good to use a second form of birth control especially with regard to cleanliness issues. Still, I bet Zachary is pretty cool.

Nothing is 100%. However the combined pill and the condom are both over 99% effective. Combining them will increase effectivness but I think that it verges in compulsive if pregnancy is your concern.

Just my thoughts, and I'm not a woman, so my take is a bit different I expect. We did have a scare once - miscarried.

I should add.. that I got pregnant the first time.. when we were using condom only birth control

pregnancy number 2 was planned

pregnancy number 3 was a pill baby

number 4 was a pill baby also.. but only because I had messed up on taking them...

I finally had my tubes tied.. but before that I think the thought of sex would get me pregnant.. LOL

I'm a very fertile woman

I've been on the Pill since I was 15 - for 15 years. I use it solely. Statistically, it's not 100% effective, but if you've been on it for a long time, use a regular dose (not low dose) Pill, and don't miss pills, it's nearly impossible to get pregnant. A friend of mine who had been on the Pill for 10 years quit so she & her husband could have a child, and it took her 10 months to conceive.

I do use condoms...

Was just curious as to how many women simply used the pill as their form of birth control.....

I know what you mean Laurel ... a friend of mine just went through some thing similar she has been on the pill since she was a teen ager and she had such a hard time getting pregnant. It took her almost over a year to get pregnant...

I just wanted to interrupt with an FYI about BC.

I went to my doctor the other day, as some of you know I've had a pretty funky cycle (every 2 weeks), so she was going to put me on the pill to level it out.

I explained that I am absolutely horrid with pill taking (which for some, could result in accidental conception).

So she put me on the BC patch, that's exactly the same formula as the pill, only you change a patch every 7 days (minus one week when you need a period).

There is also a shot that you get once a month (not Depo which is every 3 months, which is progesterone anyways...) that is also made of the same pill formula.

So, there are alternatives that are openly available on the market, just so you know.

Carry on. :D
