Ladies of Lit...

Yes.

Hence, I knew within minutes of having sex when I concieved my children.

I am not sure if it is normal or healthy. It is something that will be discussed with Doc at my 100,000 mile check up.

:)

Does anyone else here experience ovulation pain?

Every month I get a sharp, nasty cramp for a couple of hours on either my left or right side, depending on which ovary is releasing the egg, I guess.

My friend says I'm nuts, nobody can feel the egg being released from the ovary, that the pain must be caused by something else. I'm not so sure.

What say you? :)

I knew every month when I was ovulating... I would have that same nasty little pain... alas :( no more eggs....

Ovulating does hurt

Yea it does hurt, some women it affects, some it doesn't. I've been on fertility drugs for almost 3 months now and I KNOW when I'm ovulating, having never had regular cycles (due to polycystic ovarian syndrome) I never knew what other women went through with cramps, pms, etc. Now of course I can't imagine how the women who do have regular cycles deal with this every month! Of course I'm also so tender during my cycle that I don't want anyone to touch me, but ovulation hurts just as much! All I can really say is that pamprin is a wonder drug!

Yes Ms Fox

Feeling your ovulation time is completely normal. Not everyone can, but it is not an abnormal thing. Some folks feel it once they've had some sort of problems with their "mommyparts", but others (like moi) have been able to feel it since the beginning of menstruation. Enjoy the fact that you are that connected to your cycle! :)

Be Well,
Mae

You're normal.

Not every woman feels it at all, or even every month. Sometimes you have to pay attention to notice it.

I also feel the egg being released and I have since I began menstruation. Some months are worse than others and it seems like the left ovary causes more pain than the right. Good to know other women feel it too.

Hi Foxy,

I get a migraine when I ovulate.... no wonder it took us four years to conceive our first child...... who wants to do the wild thing when your veins are bursting out the side of your head

What I find interesting about this Th Oughts is that when I was on the birth control pill I got migraines when I would have ovulated. Eventually, they became "migrainal strokes" and lead to spells of blindess.

There may be no connection, but it might be worth thinking about.

For me, I do have "hormonal migraines" for lack of a better term. It really sucks and I feel for you.

Suffered through many many years of severe cramping, but my cycle seemed to change every 7 years or so, usually resulting in one day of solid agony. For the first time ever I finally skipped a month, but now it doesn't seem to want to leave (although fortunately no cramps at all). Methinks menopause is finally approaching!:D

I get the sharp twinging every other month only on the left side and coinciding with my "heavy" months. I might get a little twinge during the in between months, but nothing that hurts. The in between months don't bother me much at all, but the "heavy" months are not only a mess, I cramp like crazy and have a tough time, and it lasts a couple of days longer.

I have not been on the pill or any birth control for 7 years since my man got the 'snip'. But I still get them... roll on menopause:rolleyes:

I didn't get the migraines while I was pregnant with both my kids.

I always get a migrane the first day of my period also. One of the reasons I decided years ago to start my own business as a boss gets pissed off when you have to take 2 or 3 days a month of for migraines

I too get wicked ovulation pain - I honestly thought it was a wobbly appendix until I was put right by my Doctor. It didn't help to have an ovarian cyst either.

In a weird way, it's comforting to know that other ladies experience the same thing - and that I'm not alone in the abyss of ovulation pain. Sometimes, it can knock me for six! :(
