Ladies: Does objectification equate to misogyny, or not?

Based on this thread in the Politics forum.

It depends
"dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women" (Oxford) I'd agree with that
but
"Misogyny (/mɪˈsɒdʒɪni/) is hatred or contempt for women or girls. It is a way of keeping women at a lower status than men." (Wiki) I wouldn't agree with that.

Men don't need to hate in order to be casually biased against women and objectification is one of its symptoms.

I'm always fascinated by toddlers who drag their most treasured fluffy toy by its ear through the dirt: they truly love that toy, they need it emotionally, but they treat it like shit. Same with some men who don't understand what respect is and maybe like a toddler they've never been taught.

ETA All the men at Lit are considerate and lovely :rose: Some are toddlers :D
