Ladies and gentlemen, credibility has left the FOX TV building

During Rally, Trump Praises His Fox Friends,
Promotes Kilmeade From '7' To ‘Close To 10 Territory’

It looks like Trump didn’t read Carlson’s scathing comments
about that call to Ukraine that has prompted an impeachment
inquiry. If Trump had, I doubt he’d still be calling Carlson so
“great” and “smart.” Maybe that's why Carlson put them in a
column and pretended he never said them on the air.

Former Fox News host Bob Beckel, who was fired from the network
in 2017, claimed Smith was a "real reporter." Beckel claimed his own
daily criticism of Trump led to his firing in a Friday tweet responding
to Smith's announced departure: "Shepard Smith is leaving Fox News.
I worked at Fox for six years. Shep was a REAL reporter. I attacked
Trump daily. My firing was a setup up by people inside & outside Fox.
With Shep gone Fox Is no longer a News network. It's run by Trump
Sadly it will go down with him."

"Shepard Smith leaves Fox News, and takes the facts with him,"
remarked The Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple

In late September, Smith butted heads with Carlson after a guest on Carlson’s
program called Fox News’s Andrew Napolitano a “fool” for some critical remarks
he’d made about Trump. That Carlson didn’t challenge that characterization
was “repugnant,” concluded Smith. To which, Carlson said, “Unlike maybe
some dayside hosts, I’m not very partisan." Though Vanity Fair’s Gabriel
Sherman reported that Fox News management told Smith to “stop attacking
Carlson,” network spokeswoman Irena Briganti denied to this blog that it
was addressed with Smith.

Throughout his career at Fox News — he was with the network when it
launched in `1996 — his straightforward approach to news granted the
media outlet credibility, and his departure is likely to be a blow to its
efforts to remain a reliable news operation.

Rumors — denied by the network — asserted that he was told by
management to lay off in his recent feud with opinion host Tucker
Carlson or he would find himself off the air

2019: Trump call-out on Hurricane Dorian

The TV anchor went after President Trump for wrongly warning that
Hurricane Dorian threatened Alabama and then refusing to admit his
mistake. Smith called POTUS’ warning “fake news defined” and
strongly criticized him for insisting he was right. “Some things in
Trumplandia are inexplicable,” Smith said.

Shepard Smith Boosted Fox News' Credibility, Not Its Bottom Line ...

Shepard Smith, respected nonpartisan voice at Fox News, is leaving the network

Smith’s value to Fox News was reflected in his salary.
His current contract paid him $15 million a year, a
staggering figure for an hourlong newscast that aired
in the middle of the day.

Smith indicated that he has agreed to what is known as a
"non-compete," a clause in a contract that ensures he won't
immediately jump from one network to another. This means
he will not be immediately joining CNN, MSNBC or another
network, despite rampant speculation in the news business
that he might.

Smith’s departure coincided with reports this week that (AG Bill Barr)
Barr traveled to New York to meet with Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch
at Murdoch’s home in New York City. Neither side explained the
reason for the meeting.

Asked by reporters on Friday for his reaction to Smith’s resignation,
Trump responded with mock sympathy. “Is he leaving?” he said.
“Oh, that’s a shame. . . . Is he leaving because of terrible ratings?
If he’s leaving, I assume he’s leaving for bad ratings. . . .
Well, I wish him well.”

In his final broadcast on Friday, the 55-year-old Smith said he
had struck an agreement with Fox News in which “I won’t be
reporting elsewhere at least in the near future,” an apparent
reference to a “noncompete” agreement that keeps departing
TV news personalities from joining competitors.

Shepard Smith leaves Fox News, takes facts with him:

By virtue of his long tenure at Fox News and his relatable
TV persona, Shep Smith was able to carve out, essentially,
an hour of honesty at Fox News.

It's an accident of TV news history that the network
won't likely replicate.

In the hour that Shep Smith once occupied, Fox News will
broadcast "Fox News Reporting." Among the anchors will
be Trace Gallagher and Jon Scott.

(Is John Roberts chopped chicken liver ?)

"This is my last newscast here," Shep Smith just said on Fox News.
"It's been an honor and my pleasure." He expresses hope that
"journalists and journalism" will thrive.

"Whoa," says Neil Cavuto upon taking the handoff.

Over the weekend, Fox News announced that it had made a new hire:

John Solomon

John Solomon, the self-proclaimed journalist at the heart of the unfolding scandal
involving Ukraine, Rudy Giuliani, and the impending impeachment of Donald
Trump. It’s not hard to see why Fox executives may have wanted to bring him
aboard. Solomon’s work has underpinned the entire cascade of lies the White
House and Trump in particular have pushed over the past few weeks.

Solomon’s writings—including those most recently at The Hill, where he
worked until last month—are drenched in innuendo and mischaracterizations,
all in service of attacking Trump’s political opponents. Solomon is already
a regular Fox News fixture. He appeared on Fox News’s The Story show
last week to claim that he was being victimized by “McCarthy-like” attacks.
As Mother Jones noted on Solomon’s hiring—which coincided with Giuliani
claiming that the man deserves a Pulitzer—Solomon’s “alliance with pro-Trump
forces” is now “official.”

So Shep is out & Solomon in?
FOX is going FULL propaganda.
