Stephane was cursed, every full moon and in fits of anger, he would become a monster and stalk the woods around his grand estate. He had no control over the change, and it was hard to keep himself contained when it came over him. He had learned that silver was the only thing that could stop him from breaking free of his self imposed cage and was in the process of having a dungeon cell made for him with the silver from the mine he controlled, but with only a hand full of loyal servants at his disposal, it was taking some time.
So, he was free, stalking the woods again during the full moon, up until now he had been lucky and had never encountered anyone, just a few rabbits a wild board and a deer had fallen prey to his savagery so far. But his luck was at an end this night. He could smell her, a woman, alone and scared, her fear like a perfume, leading him toward her. His mouth salivated as he stalked her, eager to taste her. The man in him was screaming for her to run, but the beast was hungry and its howl called out to her, increasing her dread, only making it easier for him to find her.
Racing through the woods, he saw her just as she saw him and she screamed, running in terror from him. He leaped at her, sailing through the air like an arrow, nipping at her ankle, only grazing her tender flesh, landing with a heavy thud, knocking the wind out of himself. She cried out in shock and pain as she scrambled to her feet and ran away, to the safety of the little village.
Stephane licked his lips, tasting her sweet blood. His eyes burned with savage hunger, he'd never tasted something so sweet. He wanted her. But it was too late, she had escaped, for now. He slunk away, back toward his keep to hunt smaller game until the morning came and the curse of the moon released him, returning him to the man he was by day.
He remembered everything, of course, so immediately dispatched his two most loyal servants to go and find the girl. She'd been bitten and he feared he may have infected her with his curse. He had to be sure, so he instructed them to bring her back to his keep, where he would keep her until the next full moon, to be sure whether she was infected or not. "Tell her whatever lies you need, but you MUST bring her back here with you. She cannot be allowed to stay in the village until I am certain she is unaffected by my bite." He commanded.
