OOC..would love to join the News Team but am heading OOT tonight through Friday. Can you hold a position open? Second Assistant Weather Man or something?
OOC: Hi, I'm Miller Tanenbaum and this is my story. Graduated from Stanford at the top of Miller's Broadcast Communications class and quickly established Miller at KTLA as a hard-hitting news reporter. Miller then caught the eye of CBS with a couple of pieces on the ineptness of the LAPD. Miller won a few awards, then joined CBS as a correspondent. It looked like a gig on 48 hours was in the offering until Miller's libido got Miller in trouble. Miller was caught assfucking Miller's boss' daughter and wife. Lawsuits were threatened, but to keep a lid on it, Miller moved over to a new station, KSXY, where Miller moved into the co-anchor spot.
Miller is a 6'3'' Adonis with a deep resonant voice and perfect features. Always had them. Miller was known throughout CBS as a man who could barely keep his pants on around women, but that was okay, because Miller's unbelievable stamina was a blessing for the ladies. Many a woman was upset at Miller's departure.
No one is 'close' to him, perhaps because the front he puts up is so steely. Nobody knows the real Miller. Even if that's his real name.
"Ah, K.C., just in time. Apparently we have another Bush sighting. Jenna Bush and two black youths were spotted heading for a seedy hotel on the other side of town. We need to find out if the tip is true."
OOC: I'll join the staff, if you don't mind. Samantha Wells, 22, long curly auburn hair, blue eyes, 5'7". Just graduated from college with a degree in broadcast journalism, wants to be a writer, however is currently stuck copywriting and running copies to the reporters. Totally unsatisfied with that angle, she will do what she has to to achieve her desire to be a writer...
IC:
I sometimes felt as though I lived at the station - seemed I was there at all hours. This morning I had come in extra early in hopes of scoring some extra points, but hardly anyone was in. As usual, I always took care with my appearance....short navy skirt, slightly slit up the side in the front, low-cut silk blouse, and high heels. I left my hair long and flowing.
I glanced up as KC rushed in, obviously in regards to a breaking story. I heard Miller tell her something about Jenna Bush, and a smile broke across my full lips. Now THAT'S an angle I'd like to write about. Yet, sometimes I wonder how to get noticed....
OOC: I will take the job of the news director if that's OK.
IC: My name is Allie Walker, news director at KSXY. I was hired to get the ratings up, since the station had been at the bottom of the market ratings for quite some time. I had been a top reporter early in my career, and was known to stop at nothing for the story. I had worked at a large station in New York and had known Miller Tanenbaum when he was at CBS. I took this job, and as I had begun to overhaul the staff, I knew that Miller was definitely easy on the eyes, and that is just what this station needed to pick it up. So after his "liasons" that got him released from CBS, I called him and offered him the anchor job at KSXY. I promised to keep his secret, but I felt the need to remind him of it every so often.
"Damn it, KC, you have got to be more prompt!! If you want to get anywhere in this business, you have got to be more readily available." I knew I had been a little rough on her, but I was determined to make this thing work, and I expected more than I probably should - I would explain and apologize to her later. Miller kind of grinned at me, knowing that I was tough, and expected a lot. I shrugged back at him and said "All right now, let's get to work."
We all went into my office and I moved in behind my desk. When KC sat down, her short skirt rode high on her legs, exposing the top of her stockings. I smiled to myself, thinking that she evidently knew how to play part of the game in the television industry - anything, almost, to call attention to yourself. And she definitely was attractive, especially her long legs. I finally moved my eyes over to Miller, and he was definitely an attention-getter. A lot of women were disappointed when he left CBS, and I understood why. I was attracted to him briefly, but I now had to let that go, since I was the boss.
"Samantha, come on in and join us - you might learn something." The young rookie had impressed me on her interview, so I decided to give her a chance. Her job was thankless, but maybe with my training, she would be valuable. We began to discuss the story...
"Miller thinks this would be an excellent story from a woman's perspective."
Actually, Miller was hoping all three ladies would succumb to his charms, especially K.C., he had seen the stockings under her short skirt, and had ideas for her that would make a porn star blush.
Upon hearing my name, I dropped the copy and grabbed a palm pilot to take any notes. Ms. Walker was one tough boss to work for, but if I could get in good with her I just might be able to creep up that ladder a little more quickly.
I slipped into her office and slid into a chair. Looking around, I noticed KC - who wouldn't? She was gorgeous AND a great reporter. I glanced out of the corner of my eye at Miller. I had heard some....interesting things about him. Lots of rumors, but my grapevine hadn't yet confirmed or denied even half of what I'd heard. And if even half of what I'd heard was true, then he could be a prize. And not bad looking either. I felt his eyes glance towards me, and I quickly looked at Ms. Walker hoping he hadn't noticed.
OOC: If no one objects, I'd like to join in as well.
Name: Henry Catterwall
Age: 27 years
Occupation: cameraman
Height: 6"
Weight: 190lbs
Hair: blonde, not so much long as uncut
Eyes: blue
Henry has worked for KSXY since he graduated with a degree in photography 5 years ago. He keeps trying to get a job in the porn industry that actually pays good money. He sends out applications to the big guns, like Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler several times a year, but is always rejected. Several months ago, he broke up with his girlfriend because he wanted to film her masturbating and that creeped her out. Henry is a lanky kind of guy who tends to forget to get haircuts. He's clean, but always a bit ruffled about the edges. Personality-wise, it's a similar situation. He's perhaps not as sure about himself as he could be and that might be why he can't get a job anywhere else.
IC:
Henry's big black steel-toed boots clomped around the floor of the camera storage room. His obviously un-ironed white dress shirt was lazily utucked from his black slacks. As he bent over to check the pile of cabling to make sure everything was where it should be, his small wire-framed glasses slipped off his nose. Henry snatched them out of the air before they hit the ground and slipped them back on without even thinking about it.
Everything was in place. He stepped out of the storage closet to see what assignment he had today. He wasn't sure if he was inside on the broadcast or in the field with one of the roving reporters. Frankly, he didn't care that much. One the one hand, in-house work was much less effort, but on the other hand, he got to go outside for the other jobs.
Upon passing Miss Walker's office, I saw her talking with Miller and the two new girls. I tried to catch the eye of the one with the darker hair with a wink and a wave. What was her name? I knew the blonde was KC...hard to forget a name like that. Good news-anchor name. Just like Miller. Not something dumb like Catterwall...
I was trying to pay close attention to what was being talked about, when I heard some mile distraction from ouside Ms. Walker's office. Turning slightly, I noticed Henry give me (?) a slight wave. I gave him quick smile, although I dared nothing more.
Henry and I had met in the breakroom a couple of times and "hi" over coffee, but I doubt the guy even remembered my name. There was something about him....just couldn't figure out what it was - almost like a magnetism.
"Uh, Sam? You with us?" Ms. Walker demanded to know.
"Yes, I'm sorry, I was just concentrating."
I hoped my cheeks really weren't blushing as hard as I thought they were.
"So, How are we going to approach this? Miller is thinking female angle, with Miller manning the fort back here."
I noticed the new girl, Sam, blushing, and I knew I could manipulate her to my whims. It would be delightful. I looked over and gave her a wink.
Glancing back up from my notes, I noticed Miller looking at me. I saw him give me wink, and for a moment I am stunned that he would even notice me. I smiled back at him, as I heard KC's voice...
"Want to come along?"
I turned my face in her direction, as my heart pounded at the opportunity presented to me.
A smile...and what a smile! I definitely need to get her name...and possibly her phone number. Maybe I'll ask Miller after their little meeting is done. I pass by the office and walk into the men's restroom. Better get that done with before I'm laid upon with some job or another.
"Whoa, guys, wait a minute - who's the news director here??" It always happens at tv stations - the inmates try to run the asylum, and I had to nip that before it got started.
"Sam, do you think you can handle this? I mean, you don't have much in the way of camera experience, and this IS an important story." When she nodded her yes, I decided to go ahead and give her a chance. She HAD impressed me when I interviewed her, and in this business, you had to get a break from somone.
"OK, KC, you can take Sam - but you have really got to keep an eye on her, and make sure you guys get the story. Can I depend on you guys, or do you need me to come along to help?"
After thinking about it a little more, I thought it might be best if I sent Henry with KC and Sam on their story - at least he could handle the camera, and that would give Sam a chance to observe.
"Is that OK with you girls?" I asked KC and Sam. They both agreed that it would be a good idea. I called in Henry and informed him of the assignment, which he eagerly accepted. "You guys better get going," and I sent them on their way.
As they left, that left me and Miller in my office, and a strange silence came over the room. After making a few notes about KC's assignment, I looked up at Miller and he was looking right at me, with that little grin of his. What is he thinking now.......
I followed KC and Henry out of Ms. Walker's office. They were discussing a multitude of technical mumbo jumbo, and I tried to absorb as much as I could. Henry left to secure the proper equipment, and I quickly headed back to my desk to grab my purse before meeting KC and Henry in the parking lot.
Just as I was finishing up at the urinal, I heard my name being called over the intercom by Miss Walker. When Allie says "jump," you put a hole in the ceiling, and quickly. I rushed out of the room and reported to her office. Miller, KC, and the other new girl were still there. I was informed that I would be taking to the streets today with KC and Samantha (whose name I picked up when Allie mentioned it). I tried to hide my excitement, but probably failed miserably.
Both of these women were gorgeous, and I was hoping I might be able to get friendly with one of them. Well, in all honesty, I was hoping I might be able to get friendly with both of them, but sometimes a guy's gotta be realistic, right?
As we headed out of the office, I asked KC a few simple questions about lighting and such. Were we gonna be inside or outside? Are we going to mostly be doing close-up interview shots or large crowds? All the while, I noticed that Sam was paying careful attention to us. Was it just me, or was there a hint of attraction there? It was probably just her proffessional interest in the subject matter.
It was with great reluctance that I pulled myself away from the two beauties to get all the equipment loaded into the van.
OOC: "Jesse" is "Sam" by another name, HippieChick! Seriously, this is one of the first lessons one needs to learn in role play - keep your character's name straight!
Thanks for picking that up.....ok, gotta stop giggling now....back to serious writing.

age: 26
Currently studying broadcasting, and holding down the status of Weather Girl at KSXY. While working as an intern, she had to fill in for the normal Weather Lady who was sick. Seemingly a natural in front of the camera, she stayed on, but one day hopes to make Anchorwoman.
personality?: Ditzy in that Cher Horrowitz, Clueless, yet intelligent, style.

I snapped my gum, and leaned back in my chair, quietly filing my nails. One minute it was quiet, the next everyone's rushing into Ms. Walker's office, the next they're rushing out again. Something big was up.
