Korean leaders plan an end to war and 'complete denuclearization'

The leaders of North and South Korea have pledged to jointly eliminate the risk of war and work together to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The joint statement Friday, from the border truce village of Panmunjom, concluded a historic one-day bilateral summit aimed at achieving peace between the longtime adversaries for the first time in more than sixty years. The meeting of the Korean leaders was the first in more than a decade.

The statement was released during the signing of a pact between South Korean President Moon Jae-In and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un seeking to establish a "permanent" and "solid" peace on the Peninsula.

The highly-anticipated summit, which follows decades of missile tests and threats from the North, precedes a meeting between Kim and President Donald Trump expected to take place in May or June during which more of these details may be fleshed out. Look, if the Korean deal actually ends up bearing peaceful fruit (after the diplomatic grunts actually write an agreement with all the details), then yes, the Stable Genius will receive credit for that.

This would then be very similar to when the crook Richard Nixon received due credit for forging an agreement with Mau Tse Tung, after spending his entire career Red-baiting to win elections. Yes, that is a strategy for making history.

However, Nixon still left office in a cloud of shame and corruption.

So, wait until an actual and verifiable agreement is developed and signed regarding Korea, and wait until the special investigation is completed, before you start spiking in the end-zone and shouting "Mission Accomplished!"
