Knee replacement and go......

Advice???

Thursday's the big day.

Not me, but I was the home caregiver.

First, have the doctor certify that there is no cobalt in the appliance. zero, nada, none! I have friends with issues because of cobalt and one of them has it in his knee appliance.

Do the PT! Get your range back. It's gonna hurt. Suck it up. The rehab person is your friend even though it hurts like hell.

Make sure the red arrow on the replacement points the same direction your tummy does. Or, since this is Lit and all, your boobs.

no advice, pinkie, just best wishes for a swift op and recovery. bionic knee? awesome

just think how lucky we all are nowadays to be able to access this kind of op rather than go through years of bone-on-bone agony parents and grandparents may have endured!

Just from patients who have had it....do all the physical therapy. They will make sure that you are able to bend the knee as it should be bent. I have had people stop therapy and then be upset that their knee isn't bending as it should. If pain is making you want to stop therapy, let the doctor know.

Sending good thoughts your way for the surgery and your recovery.

Advice???

Thursday's the big day.

Didn't you just have shingles a week or so ago???

Good luck with the knee, but watch out for post op infection.

My friend had knee surgery and then got an infection that set back his recovery by many months.

OOOH! That is something to mention.

Make sure you have a good pair of crutches ready. Maybe some padding for on the crutch grips too, because your hands/armpits might get bloody sore from lugging your weight around in this unfamiliar manner.

My brother had his hip replaced and was dead a month later...just sayin'.

Last month, it's gone.

Get'er Done!

And a quick and gentle recovery to you!

Infections can happen. I'll be spending the night for observation.

I was only concerned about your shingles. Now they don't keep you in the hospital as long so the risk is minimal. Let us know how you did. Will be thinking of you!!!

Take a sharpie and write "WRONG KNEE" on your "good" one.

Have a safe and uneventful surgery. Post pics once the swelling goes down!

If possible, get the crutches adjusted before your surgery, practice a pit. Listen to the PT about how to use crutches. They jam I to your ribcage, not your armpits. Practice a bit if you can before surgery.

Hope all goes well with the procedure, pink.

I’ll echo the comments already made about the physical therapy. It’ll be a tough haul, but stick with it.

Have a healthy, speedy recovery.

Good Luck Pink. Listen to the docs and Physical Therapists. Work at it and enjoy the lack of pain after the healing.
