I have two kittens we haven't named yet, a dark male tabby and a lighter, silvery tabby female.

The male is very sweet and friendly and awfully affectionate. He has big wide eyes so my husband has suggested naming him Boo. I'm undecided on that.

The female is more aloof than the male, but still fairly friendly. Names like Silver and Misty are already taken so I can't name her either of those.

Ideas, anyone?

Potter and Hermione

Elvis and Priscilla

Cleopatra and Antony

Rett and Scarlet

Do a search on "cat names" There are lots of free name lists.

Clawde/Clawdius & Clawdia (We have a cat with the feminine name)

Squeak & Squawk (We've actually named two of our kittens that but later changed one's name to Max while we gave the other one away)

Garfield and Nermil and that other female cat that Garfield gets in a tussle with.

Pascal and Currie (why not?)

I have a kitten...a white and tabby colored little guy...big wide eyes as well, very affectionate, playful. His name is Boo.

grins...

If the male purrs alot it could be thunder and lightening.

Or how about hobbit style names

Frodo for the male and maybe Arwyn for the female

of course you could wait until they choose their own :)

I have a female cat named Eeyore, so I'm probably not the best cat namer..

For a boy, I like Tigerious Clawdius.

Hmm, another friend named her three Mischeif, Mayhem and Demon. Then they got a puppy, named him Diablo..

Lilo and Stitch?

We've decided on Boo and Gypsy. Boo is named for his big round eyes; he always has a slightly startled expression.

Bonnie and Clyde.

I know they were bad, but the names are cute when applied to pets.

Boo and Gypsy... good names

My parents have a black manx that adopted them, it was abused and scared of everything now. She just sorta sneaks up on you, doesn't make a sound at all. They call her Shadow...

But I call her Spook lol. She always scares the shit out of me when I go outside, and I in turn scare the shit out of her

My daughter named one of her kittens Harlot. It happens to be my granddughter's favourite and she is for ever calling out 'Where's my Harlot?' Fortunately the childcare centre know she is referring to her loved kitten when she talks about owning her Harlot.

LOL, yes, it raised a few eyebrows while I was there and she innocently started chattering on about Harlot in front of the uninitiated. Have to say that kitty is a masochist at heart....stroke her nice and sweetly and she will take it most times, but very rarely purr...my granddaughter starts picking her up and carrying her around, often with the cat slipping from her arms so it is being held by a squeezed neck, or crushed with love, and it starts purring so loud you can hear it from across the room. The minute she lets it go, instead of runing for it's life, it runs after her begging for more. Seems the rougher the treatment, the more she purrs. ROFL, maybe it is a family trait the cat has inherited.

My daughter's got 3 cats now - Wally, Tiddy and Pukka. Wally I named because when I got him as a 10 week old kitten, I let him out of the cat cage and he went absolutely bonkers running and playing all over the place after being cooped up for hours. So when I said he was a total Wally, the name stuck......

Tiddy is short for Tiddycat, silly name really but well......daughter did insist on talking babytalk to the kittycat.....

Pukka is the most recent addition, found in the magpie trap a couple of months after I left to come to Australia. Poor starving thing.....ate like there was no tomorrow......so she named it after Jamie Oliver's Pukka Tucker cooking show (tucker is slang for food  )

Over the years we've had several cats.....most of them picked their own names (Bubsy, Pixie, Razzle which was short for Rastus) but we did have one that I named Seefa.......Seefa Cat - say it aloud and you'll get it :D

I'm so glad that we aren't the only ones who think that pets name themselves - we have a cat that I named Grendel, but he prefers Grefel ... And some of our friends have pets that named themselves (although it does seem to be mostly cats that do so).

As for naming your cats, I like the thunder and lightning idea ... we used to have gerbils named that (we had a black one, and a grey one with a lightning shaped streak on his head).

Miss Kitty Fantastico (Buffy tribute)

Mephistopheles (my personal favorite)

Gershwin...pretty much any composer, really. Or characters from Norse legends. Or types of exotic cheese. I really liked the Porgy and Bess suggestion.

But yes, it depends largely on their personality upon meeting. I like these names but I have them closely attached to a mental cat. If I ever get one, it probably won't match any of these names.

Everytime I hear gandolf i tend to think of a big grey fuzzball, maybe a persian or himalayan...lol

At work a couple had tristan and isolde thats cute too.

How about :D Paggen (male) and Spirit (female)

I have Wiccan( female) and Spirrited(female) and Angell( female Chow Chow) and so I have I Spirrited Wiccan Angell Family in my house:rose:

Past and Future names

My family once had a cat named Tigress Fastbite (coloring and behavior respectively)
I once picked up two free puppies and named them Judas and Brutus. We found out that one was female and renamed her Cleopatra.
I'd love to have a snake or a dog named Memnoch and another named Lestat
