Frustration, running out of things to say, discovering they're not happy with the characters, discovering they're going in the wrong direction. For example, I've got a sequel going for "Kim and Me" called "Kim, Lynn, and Me." It uses the characters from "Kim and Me" and I've got 45,000 words written already. The sex is hot and squishy, the dialog's good, it's completely believable, and I'm having fun with it. I'm about 2/3 of the way through Chapter 4 and I'm stopped. Not stuck, stopped. I have to rewrite "Kim and Me" from 1st person male to 3rd person limited POV to make it salable and I don't want to continue writing another 50,000 words on the sequel in 1st person only to have to rewrite it into 3rd person when I'm done. So there's one reason.
