King Donald of USA is calling himself "a wartime president”

Seems natural. Various Democrats begged him to put the nation on wartime footing.

What he doesn't seem to get is that he's the enemy of the nation in this war.

What is the Defense Production Act, and why isn’t President Trump invoking it?

Saturday, when asked why his administration hadn’t spent weeks
or months trying to build up a supply of medical equipment despite
knowing ahead of time coronavirus posed a serious threat, Trump
blamed past presidents.

(laughing past the graveyard)

The question being asked was when doctors and nurses

Trump and Mike Pence lie to the nation, again

March 21, 2020

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is now leading the response effort,
with one group specifically dedicated to supplies

"...even under prodding from Trump, other officials could not say when
the masks will reach hospitals."

The behind-the-scenes scramble over supplies is at odds with the increasingly
reassuring posture the coronavirus task force has adopted when it briefs the

On March 11, Florida requested a cache of emergency supplies
from the federal government to protect its medical workers
against the novel coronavirus.

Three days later, the state got everything it wanted.

Florida, a state of 21 million, got all 180,000 N95 masks it wanted.

Florida, which has regular experience with hurricanes, isn’t waiting
on the sidelines, despite having received its entire wishlist.

On Monday, the state’s Division of Emergency Management made
a second request, saying that it was still not sufficiently prepared
to handle the looming pandemic; it asked for 2 million N95 masks,
500,000 gloves, 500,000 gowns and 250,000 coveralls. The division
also asked for thousands of ventilators and hospital beds, as well
five mobile intensive care units.

Treasury’s power over $500 billion loan program becomes key
sticking point in coronavirus aid bill

As the crisis spreads, the Senate was moving forward with a rare
Sunday procedural vote despite a breakdown in negotiations between
Democrats and Republicans on a third coronavirus aid package.
Among the points of contention: funding for hospitals and conditions
on the billions of dollars that would flow to impacted corporations.
The Senate wants to pass the bill containing both broad economic
stimulus measures and direct help for American families as early
as Monday.

Pelosi’s outlook for a deal wasn’t any better as she left the hour-long
meeting, declaring plans for the House to introduce its own bill. Pelosi
said the two sides were “still talking” but made clear that the Monday
timeframe to pass something is McConnell’s self-imposed deadline,
not hers.

“It’s on the Senate side because that’s their deadline for a vote,”
Pelosi said about the Monday deadline. “We'll be introducing our
own bill and hopefully it will be compatible.”

Despite saying the House would move ahead on its own,
Pelosi also continued to engage in bipartisan negotiations
on the Senate bill Sunday afternoon, according to a source.

Before, the briefing room had been full of lots of “angry people who don’t like me”, Trump said, referring to the White House press corps. And the room used to be “full to the brim”, people almost sitting on each other’s laps, Trump said. “Will we ever have that again, or ... it will look like this forever?”

He turned to attorney general Bill Barr, who was standing behind him, after he asked the question, and Barr chuckled, suggesting he thought this was a funny joke.

Birx dodged answering at first, but Trump asked it again: once the immediate crisis of coronavirus is over, will it be all right for the White House press room to be overflowing with journalists once again?

“I don’t know,” Birx said, saying that the briefing room at the moment looked like clinics around the world where people were taking preventive measures against the spread of tuberculosis.

When Birx was pressed on whether she’d be okay with reopening the economy after the current 15-day period ends a week from now, she said, “I don’t like to — I will never speculate on data. I will have to see the data to really understand.”

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is attempting to use the crisis
to get rid of the Dodd-Frank protections enacted after the financial

The Justice Department wants to allow people to be detained indefinitely
without charges or trial.

The administration used the coronavirus not just to evacuate

Trump’s team used the surgeon general’s public-health pronouncement

The administration also cited the crisis in trying to make it easier

Senate Republicans, working with the White House, are attempting to

Democratic group begins run of tough ad on Trump's coronavirus fumbling

March 24, 2020

While the nation is gripped by coronavirus-
the 2020 election is still happening and has taken on, if anything,
heightened importance. While there’s going to be a lot of pearl-clutching
about it, for example this Wall Street Journal story, impeached president
Donald Trump’s handling of the crisis is and will continue to be a major
issue in the campaign.

To that end, on Tuesday Super PAC Priorities USA started an ad campaign
in key 2020 states Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

It shows a timeline and rapidly growing chart of confirmed U.S. cases,
through March 22, behind a backdrop of Trump quotes.
Like “the coronavirus [...] this is their new hoax,” and
“We have it totally under control” and
“It’s one person coming in from China,”
and “One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear,”
and “People are surprised that I understand it.”
The ad ends with the most damning quote of all:

President Trump’s official campaign stepped in to do what his Super PAC could not.

Attorneys for the Donald J. Trump for President campaign sent a Cease and
