the immortals, the ageless, the beautiful ones, the shining folk, we are known by many names, even amongst ourselves we have different names, but to those who know nothing of our heritage, we are the elves...we are the superiors of the walking races, we are the most beautiful, the most intelligent, the most powerful, and for that every other walking races sees us as wonderful kind creatures who wouldn't hurt a soul.

We shall take you into the real world of elves....I am a follower of the dark path, worshipper of Lillith, the spider goddess, I am a dark elf, were banished by our kinder kindred, why? because we did not follow their relgion we rebelled against their mindless followings so they banished us, cutting us from the tree of life..the "high elves" are nothing more than arrogant crusaders of their own religon, followrs of nature blindly accepting and doing what they are told, they destroy any who do not follow their ways, yet they follow their benevolent god, so they are seen as the kind ones.

But no longer shall this be the case, I am Rhaelin, duke of the Krimaen house, house of warriors, and I shall take back what is ours, our true heritage, and the tree of life, we shall rise again as the superiors amongst superiors, triumphating above the ones who follow like sheep....And I have found a way, after many many long years of studying I have found the most sublte of influencing arts, the dark mind alterng, I shall find a subject of the elves who will then help me a ccomplish my goal.

..I camped out in the boughs of a huge oak, hidden by the fold of my dark cloak, drawing it around me to keep out the frost of the morning, it was so cold up here in the forest, I don't understand how they could live with it, but ofcourse they're probably just told to be happy with it so they are. I had been watching this part of the forest for a few days now, I knew that one would come eventually, only a certain type of elf came to this part of the forest, it was a holy place, I even spat at that thought, but to them it was holy, so that meant that only priests and priestesses came around this way, and what better to help me bring down the elvves than one of their most devouted and pious? I grinned darlky in the morning lgiht, it was a wonderful thought.

I reached down into my pouch, taking out a pinch of nightshade, popping it into my mouth, and chewing it thoughtfully, letting the mild poison, a mild poison that is to any dark elf, sending a small thrill through me, liviening up my senses and awakening me. I looked around, flexing my firm muscles, shaking my head letting my long white hair fall around my shoulders, it was not visible even in the light, all elves were good at camoflauge and stelth were famed for it. my ears suddenly pricked as I heard light footsteps along the forest path, stepping on frosted leaves and twigs. I watched, my eyes sharpening to focus in the figure...

~ She moved thru the wood, the shadows, the light, the leaves, flowers, plants, as if this were home to her, and indeed, it was. Her step was nearly silent, her breathing calm... Valyrn was one with the nature around her, the breeze that cooled this chilled morning, the subtle rays of light that slowly began their ascent into the sky, banishing the darkness, bringing forth the warmth of the day. She was one with the flowers that still lay curled in on themselves, having not yet awakened and opened to the coming light, and with the animals that survived, hunters, prey, the smallest to the largest. Valyrn was at peace, which for her, being the holy one of her people, was the best place to be. At peace, calm, and strong.

She was young for what she was, having learned, lived, and accepted her walk in this world. Her Father, a high Elf Wizard, had passed on to the next plain unexpectedly, felled by some dark spell perhaps. Her sadness was great, but he had taught her to be strong, to be the holy one that he knew she could be. Not just a wizard, a sorceress, but a holy teacher to her people. Just as he was.

But...

He was gone now. She was alone, so very alone. Valyrn, daughter of High Wizard Gareth, of the Ssivah clan. No son had been born to carry on the name, she was the only legacy now. It was alot to carry on such supple, young, shoulders. But Valyrn had swore, as her Father lay dying, to do her best, to teach, to learn, to protect, to lead, her people, the elves of the wood. They accepted her, they loved her. She was grateful for that.

Valryn took their love, for it was the love and loyalty of her people, that gave her strength, strength she needed to learn, to grow. In the time since her Father's death, she had indeed done just that. Remembering His wisdom, His spirit, she became stronger, her magic often swirling around her, her voice unwavering, as she commanded, and got the respect she needed, and deserved. Valryn lead her people, alongside the Elders, her smart wit and intelligence shining thru brighter each passing day...

This chilled morn, she needed to meditate, to think, and hone her skills to bring warmth and light to the people. The cold had been sudden, and many were afraid of the season to come. What if the cold got worse, cold often brought sickness. Her people were afraid, and Valryn hated seeing the fear in their eyes...

"I will go to the holiest of places, deep in our wood" she told the Elders. They nodding in agreement. She would not allow the cold to hurt them, she would find a way to drive back the demons that brought forth the shadows, and the chill that came...

Her Father had been a skilled healer, alongside the fact that He was a powerful magic user. She was well on her way to surpassing him. But, always, she needed to meditate, to pray, on holy ground. She was at peace, and she wished that peace to continue... the strength gained from her praying would allow that... allow the peace to battle and be victorious over the cold, the darkness, the sadness she still felt at the loss of her Father... so she traveled in the darkness of the morning, in the chilling air, to the holiest of places for her kind..

None ventured where she was going, none dared. This place, a small clearing ringed by the oldest of trees, was blessed, and only ones so blessed could step upon this ground.

She did not see, nor hear, the One who watched her.

Drawing her dark cloak about her, she drew closer to Him, her breath warming the air about her, a tendril of deep midnight black hair escaping the cloak hood and falling forward, across her gleaming dark eyes, a flicker of gold seen within ~

My eyes gleamed in the darkness of my shrouded hood as the female elf drew near me, I could smell her from here, her scent was intoxicating, the figure I could see wrapped in the heavy cloak was voluptuous and breath-taking, atleast that was one thing that mortals were correct about, we were beautiful creatures, and this female was indeed one the most beautiful I had seen, even more beautiufl than the spider temptress' who supervised the worships in our dark temples, they could make even the toughest of dark brethren break down in tearful lust, this one one had a fragililty and yet still with the strength and beauty to drive males and even females her knew crazy.

I stayed completely still, watching her walk closer and closer, her footsteps were silent, but after a liftemtime, being rasied from birth to be a warrior, my senses were sharper than most, but I didn't need those senses anymore, she was not more than a few feet away from the tree, if I had jumped down I could have landed down on top of her...she truly was beautiful, she would be perfect for my plans. I would break, I would test these dark arts to their limits. I wondered for a moment how powerful these arts would work on a truly resisting specimen, but that was how these arts worked it was said, the harder they resisted the harder they would be drawn in, it was trul an amazing majick, aeons old, since the beginning of our kind.

She had passed me now, I decided to act now, I crouched down low and began moving along the bough of the tree, following her tail like the trail of a comet, her footsteps masking mine. I began whispering, it was an ancient whispering that echoed around the forest clearing, it sounded like the passing menacing wind, it sounded like the oncoming of a thousand locusts or the falling of the sand in an hourglass. I could sense her ears moving slightly to try and catch where the inaudible sound was coming from, I could almost see it entering her ears, beginning to wear away at its hold on reality, confusing her.

I carried on with my whispering, staring at her intently, she stopped and stared into the middle distance as though she had temporarily forgotten where she was going. I jumped down off the bough of the tree and landed deftly behind her, she spun around on the spot with a mixture of confusion and anger

"Greetings, oh light one" I said with a slight sneer to my calm smile

~ the chill seemed to wrap about her as she walked, she drawing the cloak ever closer. But for not, the chill penetrating, even as the sun awakened. But no, wait, it was not just the morning cold that the breeze brought to her, within, she could just barely hear something within, a whisper, a chanting, a spell, winding it's way around her... Slithering like a snake, hissing softly in her ear...

Doer oloth, doer oloth, erl'elee dosst veldrin, ply'uss l' ssussun, inthuul, renor, doer oloth, doer oloth, vel'klar l' ssussun ussen shlu'ta naut elendar
(Come darkness, come darkness, embrace your shadows, capture the light, cold, black, come darkness, come darkness where the light ones can not endure)

It was a dark chant, she knew that even tho she could not truely hear the words. It was the feel of a serpent's tongue gliding against her skin that proved her thoughts. But .. this was holy ground, who would dare venture here and utter such a spell, if that was what she was hearing, sensing?

She did not cease her motion, to pause, would make her vunerable.

Whispering, using the same dark language that she knew, her teachings having shown her that to render a darker spell harmless, one must speak in the same tongue, and Valryn was not afraid of that Dark Elven tongue, even if many of her own people were.

Ssussun, morn'lo, l' xta'rl d'lil orthae, ssussun ussta unboin ulu dosst du'ased k'lar.. g'jahall l' oloth... nauxxizz lu' kiel, jous dosst orthae ssussun h'uena mzild.
(Light, heat, the touch of the holy, light my steps to your blessed place.. defeat the darkness... helpless and slow, show your holy light once more)

She found the darkening chant distracting her, slipping into her mind, and she indeed did pause in mid step. Shaking her head, as if trying to clear it, she let her golden hued eyes close for a moment, trying to stay focused, trying to stay calm. She looked up once more, and for a very scary second, she forgot where she was, the forest, trees, plants all around her looked, unfamiliar, strange, and threatening. She knew it was the spell, confusing her, and she fought against it... whispering her name...

"I am Valryn the Holy, I seek to meditate, to find the warmth my people need" she repeated to herself, as if trying to convince herself of this. "The darkness will not frighten me, the shadows are not alive, merely void of lifegiving light"

Her words ceased as she heard a voice, yes, a voice, not a whisper, and not from afar, but speaking from directly behind her..

"Greetings, oh light one"

She heard His voice, and the thud of His feet, altho muffled greatly, at the same instant, she turning quickly and backing away a step. Another Elf faced her... from beneath His dark hood shown a gaze of pure evil, and a mane of pure white. A dark Elf !!!! The realization of just who and what she was looking at flickered in her eyes... and Valryn was unarmed. Holy Elves, such as she, carried no weapon. It was thought that one was not... needed. Light, she needed light, the thought racing across her mind, blinding light....

"Ssussun, dal natha feir, dal ussta xukuth, doer ulu UNS'AA" ("Light, from a far, from my heart, come to ME")

Caught so offguard, that she uttered the chant in the darker tongue, rather than her own... ~

She had chanted in the dark tongue, I leaned my head back and laughed at the glory of this, my deep laugh echoed around the clearing internixing with the whispering, which was still contiuing despite not being whispered by my lips, I continued to laugh for what seemed many ages, my gleeful laughs eventually faded into the silent forest, I turned back to her and smiled widely, my white slightly pointed teeth shining brightly against the pure black skin that all dark elves were blessed with. I shook my head again, letting my hair flow around my shoulders and head again, my eyes reflected a flash of light from the sun bursting through the trees, my eyes seemed to gleam.

Then there was no sound, nothing at all, there was no wildlife, no wind, nothing...except for the continuous chanting, now supplied by hidden dark tongues, I opened my lips in another small smile and added to the whispers swirling around the both of us, she looked at me with a look of pure hatred, but she still didn't move, she just stared as if she wanted to kill me just by trying to bore a hole through my head with the heat of her stare. Her hands went toher side, and fumbled for a moment; there was no weapon there! The typical arrogance of these high priests, thought that they were protected by their god at every single step in their lives, it was surprise why they hadn't all been killed with this attitude, but they survived.

Doer oloth, doer su'inth, doer veldrin, uthin dost cer'caen, pholaen dost cer'raek, erl'elee dost veldrin
(Come darkness, come poison, come shadows, destroy your mind, control your soul, embrace your shadows)

I took a step towards the female elf, casting another eye over her, her beauty was astounding, slightly perturbed by the expression of loathing on her face, but that would change if my plan succeeded, if not in her dazed, hypnotised state, though it wasn't very effective at this moment, would slow her down, she would be dead before she hit the ground. I touched the hilt of my long curved sabre, the gorgon metal blade, hidden insinde the sheath, but hopefuly it wouldn't be needed, though dark elves had nothing against the death of other creatures, I would be angry later at having to kill something so beautiful.

Her lips began to move, forming whispering words of her own, and to my subtle delight she began to repeat the whispers that were swimming around us, she was actually whispering the chants herself, and she did not realise it, to her they were the words of of protective chant, it was true, the dark altering worked with the resistance of the subject.

"What is your name light one? What brings you to this holy place that not even normal elves can visit?"

~ Silence, utter silence, enveloped her, just a the Dark One took a step toward her. Valyn growled lightly, she realizing that she had indeed spoken in the dark tongue to summon a protective spell, light spells did not work well when conjured in the evil tongue. The silence was her answer, leaving her alone, and for the moment, weakened. She drew her own magical aura from the living around her, the breeze, the rain, the flowers and trees, the beasts that roamed the wood. All were gone, the silence was suffocating, and she found herself trembling...

The whispers began again, as the Dark One gazed upon her. She met that glowing look, with her own, deep within her eyes was the flicker of her essence, a deep seated strength. She could not break free of the chantings that seemed to coil around her, touching her with chilling fingers, singing to her with a haunting melody. Her own voice betrayed her, as she again tried to conjure a counter spell, the words flowing in the shadowed language, the confusion allowing her to think it was her own that she spoke, that her own was too weak to help her when in truth she was feeding the shadowed spell.

It took her several moments to realize what was happening, but indeed she did, pulling her eyes from His, she quieted herself suddenly, no longer adding to the whispers that lingered around them both. She took a deep breath, clearing her mind, casting away the temptations that were tickling there, the hushed caress of His words, seeking to invade her thoughts, her mind, her soul.

"Inbau doeb" (Get out) she tried to murmer in her own tongue. Instead it came out in His. What was happening??? "Inbau doeb d' ussta karliik" (Get out of my head)... the words again coming forth in His tongue.

She looked at Him, daggers spilling from her eyes. Yet He, laughing and calm, simply asked her a simple question, that one may ask a new aquaintence, a new friend....

"What is your name light one? What brings you to this holy place that not even normal elves can visit?"

"My name is of no consequence to You, Dark One, and this Blessed place belongs to my people, not Yours. How dare You venture here, how dare You speak Your filthy tongue here. Get OUT, and leave me be. I have no business with You"

I laughed again, it was even louder than the first but it did not last as long as the first, it was a mirthless laugh, I could see that my laughter was feeding her anger, she was furious at how much joy I seemed to be finding this situation. She still did not move as I took another deliberate step towards me, she was egar to move, she wanted to fight, run or even both at once, but she could not.

"My name is of no consequence to You, Dark One, and this Blessed place belongs to my people, not Yours. How dare You venture here, how dare You speak Your filthy tongue here. Get OUT, and leave me be. I have no business with You"

I laughed again, moving even closer, I could see her breath getting shorter and quicker, she body was trmebling fury and fear at the same time, every time she tried to chant in came out in my own tongue, she was horrified at this, but was still unable to speak in anything else. I stopped laughing suddenly and spoke in a stern, loud voice

"Tell me your name now! You cannot move because of me, so I have great business with you oh light one" I spat out the last bit as though continuing to utter those words was a grave offense to me. I did not tell her why or how she couldn't move, but this thought was clearly shocking to her, but she hid it well by continuing with her expression of hatred.

The whispering continued, the trees around us seemed to gather around us, the daylight suddenly seemed to have been shrouded. I took another step forward, I was only a few feet from the female now, I could see her eyes clearly now, they were beautiful too, her skin flawless

~ She had thought she had stilled by her own will, but in reality, she was rooted in place, a sudden feeling of pressure surrounding her, slithering, coiling, tightening. Even her breathing suffered, becoming shorter, as if the pressure were robbing her of her life's breath.

She stared at Him, His darkened skin, the ivory hair, those glowing eyes. She had seen Dark One's before, but it was rare to see one alive. She could feel His touch, or so she thought, slimey and tainted, and struggled to move back, even by a step, unable to do so. The more angry she got, the more fear she felt, the stronger the hold seemed to get.

"Relax" she whispered in her mind, at least there, for the moment, the words came in her own tongue, unlike the ones that slipped from her lips. Valryn nearly choking on the dark language. "Relax.. Soothing light envelope me, help me to resist the haunting words that surround me and hold me in place" Again, thankfully, the words in her mind were in her own language...

"Tell me your name now! You cannot move because of me, so I have great business with you oh light one"

His words were threatening, and for the first time since this encounter began, Valryn got the sense of what the Dark One wanted. He had not just happened upon her, she had happened upon Him, He had been laying in wait. Her belly fell, she fighting the deepening sense of fear that gripped her, a shiver rolling down her spine, a shiver she could not cease. He wanted something from her, and to her racing mind, that could mean her life, her essence, her power, even her sex. All of which were precious to her...

Despite her fear, she kept her voice steady as she spoke, again in His tongue.. "Then it is Your name that is important, I am captive, so what You choose to call me matters... NOT" the last coming out in a near scream, her fear betraying itself. "Tell me what it is You wish of me.. Dark One" she nearly spit, determined to not show Him her fear again, her weakened side.

She felt the shadows gathering, the light of the risen sun dimming. The light, her last source of any power she could hope to gather. Her eyes left His dark face and looked upwards, as if begging the sun to stay. She again tried to speak, in her own tongue, only to have it come out in His...

"Ssussun doer, Ssussun sune, Ssussun Dormagyn" (Light come, Light warm, Light Save)...

Despite the underworld language, her strength and desperation were enough to allow a brief, nearly blinding flash to pulse around her, she breathing in a deep gasp of the warmth she felt. She could move at that moment as well, but the darkness was too consuming and she was unable to run, instead, as she tried to get to the holiest of grounds, within the ring of trees, she fell, collasping on the ground, with a low moan of pain and desperation. The blinding light flashed, flickered, and died, leaving her shrouded in the shadows. Her cloak fell open, revealing a supple, muscled leg, skin fair and creamy, unmarred in any way.. ~

My eyes opened wide as she moved suddenly, but instead of running as I would have thought, I thought that she broken through the spell weaving; she feel to her knees, holding her head and screaming out, cluthcing at her head. as she feel to her knees her cloak fell away from her showing off her figure, it was even more astounding, covered only by a light white dress, that worn by their high priestesses and majick users. It stuck me that she wasn't fighting the altering, atleast she was trying, but losing that fight, she screamed again, then fell completely to her knees, her head sinking down, muttering my tongue...I caught snatches of words..."no light....light...so cold" I wondered exactly what was going on inside her head.

But I knew what I had to do, I strode the last few feet to her and and knelt down on one next to her, placing my mouth next to her ear, I whispered the chants again, my tongue flicking against her ear as I spoke. She shudddered as I did, for what reason I did not know, it could have been more fear, but in her current state I did not know.

Doer oloth, doer oloth, erl'elee dosst veldrin, ply'uss l' ssussun, inthuul, renor, doer oloth, doer oloth, vel'klar l' ssussun ussen shlu'ta naut elendar(Come darkness, come darkness, embrace your shadows, capture the light, cold, black, come darkness, come darkness where the light ones can not endure)
Doer oloth, doer su'inth, doer veldrin, uthin dost cer'caen, pholaen dost cer'raek, erl'elee dost veldrin
(Come darkness, come poison, come shadows, destroy your mind, control your soul, embrace your shadows)

She shuddered as I uttered the last syllable, falling to the floor completely, she seemed unconscious, I watched her to see what she would do, I turned her motionless form back to face me, her eyes were wide open, unblinking, she was breathing softly. I spoke softly, not harshly this time, she was in a trance now, the chants were working, and with the resistance of the high elf religion it had taken her deep.

"Can you hear me elf?" She nodded dumbly, she was not required to speak so she did not.
"Now tell me your name, who are you?"

~ Pain, tearing thru her mind, ripping, clawing, vicious. It hit her so hard, so fast, that any defense she may have been able to muster was gone. Her voice echoed in a scream.. was that her screaming? The sound was ethereal, ghostly, lost to her. Somewhere deep in her mind, she watched as her body collasped, shaking violently as she vainly fought what was happening.

He hovered over her, she could feel the weight of His body, but worse, she could feel the caress of His breath, the touch of His tongue to her dainty ear as He whispered within, those words, obscene, tainted, loathing, He seeking to delve into her mind, where she desperately hid.

Her eyes were wide and staring.. she having retreated so far back into her mind. She breathed, altho barely. The Holy Elf had no expected, nor prepared, for an attack such as this. She had known that the Dark Elves possessed great power, but she had not know the extent of that power. She was learning now, and it was a lesson she would never forget...

"Light, You must fight darkness with Light, evil with good" came the words in her mind, as if another was speaking to her. It was her Father's voice, speaking a lesson he had tried to tell her long ago.

His words faded, mingling into the vicious whisper the Dark Elf uttered into her ear ...

Doer oloth, doer oloth, erl'elee dosst veldrin, ply'uss l' ssussun, inthuul, renor, doer oloth, doer oloth, vel'klar l' ssussun ussen shlu'ta naut elendar (Come darkness, come darkness, embrace your shadows, capture the light, cold, black, come darkness, come darkness where the light ones can not endure)

"Doer oloth, doer su'inth, doer veldrin, uthin dost cer'caen, pholaen dost cer'raek, erl'elee dost veldrin (Come darkness, come poison, come shadows, destroy your mind, control your soul, embrace your shadows)

"Can you hear me elf?"

She could hear Him just fine, His lips were pressed to her ear as He spoke, the sensation sent a tremble thru her prone body. A bare nod answered Him..

"Now tell me your name, who are you?"

"Valryn" slipped from her lips, as much as she tried to stop it, she could not.

Deep in her mind, she was gathering all the strength she could, for one last attempt to break free of the grasp of shadows that even now were trying to consume her. Again the words snaked into her thoughts ... Doer oloth, doer su'inth, doer veldrin, uthin dost cer'caen, pholaen dost cer'raek, erl'elee dost veldrin .....

Doer oloth (come darkness)

She whispered from within...
plak'la ssussun kulggen uns'aa (golden light shield me)

Doer Su'inth (come poisin)
orthae xta'rl o'goth uns'aa (holy touch heal me)

Doer veldrin (come shadows)
kalyar (illuminate)

Uthin dost cer'caen (destroy your mind)
mru'nga ussta ssiggrins (encourage my thoughts)

Pholaen dost cer'raek (control your soul)
duul'sso ussta du'ased tluin (free my blessed being)

Erl'elee dost verdrin (embrace your shadows)
pahntar Dosst ssussun ulu uns'aa... (open Your light to me)

She screamed out....
KALYAR (ILLUMINATE)

KALYAR (ILLUMINATE)

Her back arching, the word came thundering from her lips. Again in HIS TONGUE, as hard as she tried to break free, His dark tongue still tumbled from her lips, but irregardless of the language, the sudden swirl of power was unmistakable. The sounds came back.. 10 fold... the wind, the life around them... a sudden thunderous crash as the light sliced into the darkness.

Valryn was on her feet in an instant, having used all she had in her, both physically and mentally, to break the dark hold on her. He was sent tumbling, as she stumbled back, as if confused at what was happening. The light was blinding even to her, but she could see the darkness, and it was from that... that she ran.

"Holy ground" she screamed out, having no place else to run, it was there she sought safetly, within the ring of trees, the Holy Elf disappeared, at least for the moment.
She was as talented at blending into her surroundings at the Dark One was.. it was all she had to save her from Him, at least at the moment. The thought of what He would do to her should He capture her again, was not one she wanted to entertain. But, it had taken all she had to break free, she was not sure if she could again. Obviously He had underestimated her, she was sure He would not do that again.

I growled out a curse as I sprang up upon my feet, coruching upon the forest floor watching her stumble off into the undergrowth, she was weary and her power was gone now, she had used all her strength to break the altering's grasp on her mind, it seemed that even though the altering worked with the resistance of the elf, her resistance had also been like a battering ram, eventually breaking through the power of the whispers, but now that weapon was on fire, it had no strength left, it was a wreck, this could prove an advantage, but I had to catch her quick.

"Sha'kla!!"(Damn elf!!)

I sprang on my heels and ran deflty along the ground, jumping up into the nearest tree, pouncing from branch to branch, landing lightly enough not to even disturb the leaves.I kept on running, I glanced down and saw the slight movement as she stumbled along, blending in well with the undergrowth despite her mental injury, her body was acting almost on instinct now. She stopped looking around desperately, and folded herself against the trunk of a large tree, hiding in the roots, she disppeared, or atleast she would have if I hadn't just seen her disappear. I began to crawl lightly down the trunk, lsithering on my stomach, not making a noise, stopping a few fet above her I began the whispering again, this time making the tongue sound like that of the high elves to her ears, although I spoke in my tongue.

"Ru'luth moss'n hutynli" (hear my voice)

"Erl'elee moss'n hutynli" (embrace my voice)

"Hutyn'li loak ty'lun" (the voice is power)

"Hytynli est'a ssussun" (the voice is light)

"Crayn ssussun veldrin phy'lauin, est'a tofaern" (feel the light and darkness combine, it is beautiful)

I heard her sigh, her power had almost been destroyed in breaking the hold the first time, but I wasn't taking my chance this time, I was going to use her religion against her this time, she would embrace her religion without question, so blind were the high elves. She leaned back against the tree, letitng it hold her up

Her feet alighted upon the Blessed ground, and it was there, at the base of the largest tree, that she melted, letting herself become one with the living around her. Her breath coming in short, desperate gasps. Peace, she needed to find Peace, and Light....

"Ru'luth moss'n hutynli" (hear my voice)
"Erl'elee moss'n hutynli" (embrace my voice)
"Hutyn'li loak ty'lun" (the voice is power)
"Hytynli est'a ssussun" (the voice is light)

The words curled comfortingly around her, spoken in her tongue, of the High Elves, soothing, powerful, had they been there all along? Watching? Had the Elders fashioned a test for her? Had this been nothing more than a proving of her strength, her resolve, her loyalty, her faith??

Whisperings, soft as butterfly wings, lingering, luring, ethereal, seductive.. whisperings of safety, of light.. the voice was light, her light, her strength...

"Ru'luth moss'n hutynli" (hear my voice)
"Erl'elee moss'n hutynli" (embrace my voice)
"Hutyn'li loak ty'lun" (the voice is power)
"Hytynli est'a ssussun" (the voice is light)

"Crayn ssussun veldrin phy'lauin, est'a tofaern" (feel the light and darkness combine, it is beautiful)

Leaning into the tree behind her, she let herself go, letting the words wind around her, consume her. It was not until the last phrase came to her ears, and into her mind... "Crayn ssussun veldrin phy'lauin, est'a tofaern" that she realized she was lost. That it was not her tongue, not her light, not her saviour, but the vicious whisperings of the Dark Elf...

"no... please... no" she managed to beg, as her eyes rose to meet His, above her. The light, what she had managed to conjure, faded, the sun dimmed, and as the Dark Elf spoke, a great shadow shrouded the sky. To any who saw, it was as if an eclipse happened, sending the world into unexpected darkness.

The holy, blessed ground under her rumbled as the evil of His words, took hold...

Valryn delved into her mind, seeking what safety she could find, as He came closer.. and closer... ~

"No...please...no" She managed to squeeze out, it was a small scared voice now

I jumped away form the tree, twisting in the air and landing on the soles of my feet, with a lsight rustle of leaves as I hit the floor, just infront of Valryn, I was only a breath away from her, I could almost taste her from where I was standing, she was almost broken, she was still trying to put up a fight, but her training, the same training that had been taught to from brith wouldn't allow her to fight the words of the high elves, the more I repeated the chanting the more helpless she was becoming, her mind already rvagaed from breaking through before was now nothing more than a sheet of ice before the flame. She would not be left without her mind there was no point in that, but it would be her mind changed, she would believe in different gods, she would follow other queens.....if that was what I eventually commanded her to think. but not yet.

"Ru'luth moss'n hutynli" (hear my voice)
"Erl'elee moss'n hutynli" (embrace my voice)
"Hutyn'li loak ty'lun" (the voice is power)
"Hytynli est'a ssussun" (the voice is light)
"Crayn ssussun veldrin phy'lauin, est'a tofaern" (feel the light and darkness combine, it is beautiful)

I watched Valryn repeat the words, her mind beginning to accept them, she listened to my voice, it was the voice that her goddess and religion had just told her to embrace; I could tell now that the more she tried to deny this the more she became confused and lost, when this ended however I would not let her be lost and confused, she would be very happy with her life, happier than she had ever been with her precious "high" elves.

"Yes...listen to my voice, accept my words, obey the whispers of my dark tongue. Release your mind Valryn, you must never disobey the language of you ancients, you know this to be true" I stepped closer to her, we were less than a hands width apart now, I could see her perspiring with sweat, from exhaustion and the last of her resistance.

~ Valryn retreated, into that place in her mind that she often went, when frightened or confused. The words, the dark chants that she was repeating as He whispered them to her, luring, lingering, slithering serpent words, faded from her lips. Betrayed, her own faith had betrayed her, the words had started out as light, as holy, as blessed... She, even now, rested on blessed ground, sanctified, pure, yet HE was still able to follow her here, HE was still able to walk upon such ground, and utter His foul words.

Was the Holy Elf broken? She was weakened, she was scared, but she had an inner strength, one not entirely born of her faith. The strength she had gained in being her Father's only child, only daughter. The strength of knowing her heritage and responsibility. She had delved into the world of darkness, if only on the surface, to learn. That was why she knew the darkened tongue. Her Father did not even know. He had taught, fight Darkness with Light, Fight evil with good.

Valryn was learning that one had to fight fire... with fire. But she was too weak now. So she retreated, into her mind. Falling unconscious for the moment. If He had wished to kill her, she already would be dead... death was not the objective here. She would regain her strength, she would fight Him, when she was stronger, if she could. For now, she went limp... with a soft sigh escaping her trembling lips.. ~

I continued to whisper into Vlryn's ear, feeling her go limp as she fell onconscious, back into the state that she had been in momentarily before she had broken free the fist time, I thought that perhaps it had worked this time, and it probably had, atleast on the surface it had appeared to have worked, but I did not trust this elf when it showed her under the control of the altering, she had broken through last time. I knew that there was probably still something in her mind somewhere, but maybe not, but I had to make sure. I had to destroy all resistance in order to make the altering complete to turn her mind over to me. I placed my hand on either side of her head, feleing her emotions and thoughts running through my body, I couldn't tell exactly what they were, trying to read thoughts was like trying to read water, but I could sense the shape of it, trying to detect something, any sort of resistance that was left.

There was a little something, almost totally unnoticeable but it was there a glimmer of blocked mind. I took my hands away and sat back on my haunches, looking the elf priestess over, atleast I assumed she was a priestess, some sort of majick user at any point, she had a magnificent body, I needed to think of a way to overcome this small spot that was continuously haunting the altering's progress. I hought for a while, the forest growing colder by the mintue, but cold didn't bother me. Eventually I knew what I could do, I touched the point of her chest where here collar bone came to the dip, placing my palm flat. I spoke softly, the whispering syncing in time with my words, even though I was not uttering the same words.

"Yes, your mind is strong, you shall always be able to stand against the dark elves and their powers, you don't need to try and resist me anymore because you will always be able to resist without trying, you want to try and find out what I'm doing, but the only way to do that is to give up all control, even allowing that little space in your mind to succumb is worthwhile in order to find out, let yourself slip under control of my voice, let your mind be altered"

The elf sighed softly, but I still had to becareful with this one, I took her hand and picked her up to her feet, she stood up, standing totaly still and still, staring unblinkingly out front, I began to walk her along the forest floor, leading her to the entrace of the Underdark though she wouldn't know that it was still quite a walk.

"Now elf, tell me, who were you back in the city of the light ones? Why were you wandering into this place?"

~ His voice was soft, alluring, seductive, erotic. He slowly weaved the darkness around her, using it to comfort her, to tempt her, to slowly get within her mind.. She had tried to retreat, but His voice was enticing her back, enticing her to Him...

"Now elf, tell me, who were you back in the city of the light ones? Why were you wandering into this place?"

She was upon her feet, walking, as she fluttered open her eyes. The golden light within flickering to life. She tensed, but did not pull back or away from Him.. it felt as if the shadows were slithering around her, holding her to Him. She turned those eyes to His as He spoke, really looking at the Dark Elf for the first time. His skin was deep in color, smooth and ebon. Coupled with the ivory white hair, He had pushed back His cloak hood, the effect was striking. He was not horrible to look upon, she had refused to believe those stories even when she was a child. He was not some... monster... as what was taught to the young ones. He was much like her, in some ways, only what struck Valryn, was the darkness not of His skin, but in His eyes.

"May I know Your name.. first" she asked...

She still retained a measure of who she was, He had not destroyed her mind, nor was He seeking to, Valryn realizing that now. She could not quite grasp what He was trying to do, or perhaps she did and chose not to recognize it. The thought of being, altered, of letting another control Your mind, was not a foreign concept to Valryn, hence why she was not as ... easy.. to manipulate .. as other Light Elves were.. ~

"May I know Your name.. first"

I pondered whether I should answer this, it might give her too much freedom, but then I thought that, if I did give her this freedom it would further entice her into the dark altering whispers, if I could take her mind off the hispers, distracitng her they could affect her better, she would along beside me, herbody was clearly not under her control, she was just just letting the whispers guide her along instead, this meant they were also entering her mind if she was allowing this...maybe, I still had not decided if her mind was truly altered yet.

"My name is Rhaelin, I am of authority amongst my people...now answer my questions" I stopped, this was the wrong tone of voice in order to coax her with the dark altering "You should always answer my questions first, the more you reveal about yourself thr futher you can lose yourself in my ways, the more open your mind can be" I let soothing enter my voice, I noticed her shudder a bit as the last of my soft syllables slipped into place.

Her eyes were more alert again, she was showing life in her body as we continued to walk, but it was a different walk, as though she was back in control of her body, but her mind still in confusion, almost as if she had too much wine, but there was definitely light back in her eyes, I stared into them, she turned slightly and I found her staring back into mine, she wore a perplexed look, but it was also countered by the calm of one who was in a trance. I turned my eyes forward, we turned into a path leading deeper into the forest, wehere there began larger rock outcrops in the closely clustered trees, no army could march along these grounds it was far too crowded and dangerous, it was like a safe zone between the woods of the high elves and the caeverns of the dark elves, almost strange how such hated kinsman could live only a breath apart from each other, although the dark elves Underdark was indeed deep underground.

I reached into my pouch and pulled out a nothe rpinch of night shade, and began chewing them slowly, glancing to the side at Valryn.

"Answer now Valryn"

"I am Valryn, daughter of High Priest Gareth, of the Ssivah clan. I am the Priestess, the Sorceress, the Holy one to my people. I needed to.. meditate, to pray, so that I could guide my people, heal them, help them. The ground where You captured me, is Blessed".... Valryn paused, taking a deep breath.. "at least I thought it was Blessed. I do not understand why or how You were able to come there, to speak Your dark words there.."

Valryn stopped in mid step, turning to face the Dark Elf. She watched as He chewed a bit of.. nightshade .. that was nightshade He was tasting. Without thinking she reached out from beneath the cloak, placing her delicate hand upon His arm, slender fingers lightly touching.

"You realize, Rhaelin, that is nightshade that You so casually chew. A poison." Why was she telling Him that? Let Him poison Himself if He chose to.

She looked around her, where was she? Where had He lead her? This was not her holy place, this, this was the seperation, that was what her people called it, the seperation, between her world, of the High Elves, the Light Ones, and His, the Underdark, where the Dark Elves worshipped, and lived.

"My people, please, they need a Holy One, please do not take me from them, I am all they have, please" she suddenly said, her eyes glowing slightly. There in lay her power. It was not herself she was concerned about, Light, and Compassion were powerful allies.. Her people meant not the *High Elves* in general, there were many Holy Ones among the different clans. She spoke of her specific clan, her family unit, the small gathering she was responsible for~

I continued to chew as Valryn touched my arm, there was a slight pleading in her voice as she asked me to send her back to her people, she was holding my arm tighte now, gone was her fighting me, she was now holding onto me as if I was the one to help her, like her protector now. I kept on looking at her, and took her hand, gazing into her eyes, feeling her soften under my gaze, listening to the whispering still surrounding us, it was getting fainter as it seeped into her mind, taking root, like some dark plant. Her eyes glazed for a while as the roots took hold and then swam back into focus as her mind altered again.

"Yes I know it is poison, so I would not suggest you ever eat any, however I am a dark elf, we have developed immunity to it, it is nothing more than a stimulant to us now" I continued to gaze into her eyes as I changed my voice back to its soft tone, stroking the back of her hand with my fingers, distracting her from my voice, allowing it to work deeper into her ears.

"And you don't need to go back your people will be fine, they will find their strength, you don't need to go back, you are needed here, if you come you be able to find out what you are needed for and you need to know, without me your mind will not be open, and that will be a terrible thing, you need to follow and listen to my voice."

With that I took her by the arm and led her deeper into the woods, leading her into even rockier surroundings, she followed close, holding onto me now, her fieriness was fading, or atleast becoming less appaerent, was she just waiting, had she broken it again, it seemed inmprobable, the only resistance she had left was now only caring for others, was there a way around this?

We came to a large rock outcrop that seemed no different from the rest, I spoke a single word before the rocks began to crack apart, opening itno a large arc, big enough for atleast 4 people walking in side-by-side

~ The whisperings, hushed sounds that mingled with her thoughts. Darkness, the darkness had almost taken her, but wait, this Elf, this Dark Elf, had saved her, had lifted her from the ground and fought back the shadows that threatened to overwhelm her. In her confusion, she began to think that it had been He that had conjured the blinding light that had driven back the blackness....

"you don't need to go back your people will be fine, they will find their strength, you don't need to go back, you are needed here, if you come you be able to find out what you are needed for and you need to know, without me your mind will not be open, and that will be a terrible thing, you need to follow and listen to my voice."

"My people...." for a moment her eyes flashed, golden.. but faded again. She cojuld not seem to focus, at least not for the moment. What had happened? Why was she here? The whispering seemed to answer.. "you are needed, follow, and listen to my voice" whose voice?? His.. the Dark Elf, she again let herself gaze at Him.

Why had she hated Him so? She leaned into Him as He lead her, soft curves brushing against.. her breathing so close to His sensative ear, the hint of a moan, as if she knew this was wrong but was unable to fight it...

She was lead thru the cracked archway... from her home... from the light .. into the.... depths... ~

I felt Valryn suddenly lean up against me as we walked down the path to the underdark, but it was not a move that was made out of fear, which would have been more likely under the conditions, most elves regardless of rank would be scared to come down into the underdark, especially in the company of a dark elf, but she clung to me that showed...longing, her mouth came near my ear and gave a soft quiet moan, I smiled wanly to myself, leading the elf along, pullin gher in closer wrapping one arm around her slim waist, she moved into my arm as if there was nothing wrong now, I heard her sigh with relief and I looked down at her her head was half resting on my shoulder, her eyes half closed, I could see they were smoldering with lust and dreaminess a smile hinted about her lips.

"My people...." She spoke softly, I thought this was another attempt to break free of the spell, but this seemed more of a rememberance of something that she had said earlier and was now confused as to why she said it.

"Yes I am your people, Valryn, you love your people dearly and would do whatever was needed in order to protect your people and keep them happy, wouldn't you?" She nodded dreamily against my shoulder as we kept walking descending down itno the dark, "As an elf priestess you know tha tits your duty to serve your people, to do what they wish in order to keep them happy," She still nodded as I spoke this, "And I am your people so isn't it right to serve and protect me?"

We kept walking until we came to a turn in the tunnel, but there was no more tunnel anymore, the turn was now a lip on the side of a huge cavern, the carven stretched off into the darkness, further than most eyes could even see, the path began to wind down onto the floor which was far below, the path nothing more than a snake of rock, barely able to firt 5 elves walking across, I smiled and breathed in the air, it felt so good to be back out of the sun and into the comfort of the dark again, we looked into the distance and there, though I imagined Valryn did not actually acknowledge anything besides me and the few feet of ground around us, were the lights coming from the domed city of Us'Natath, capitol city of the dark elves.

~ Valryn followed the Dark Elf, seeming to have simply given up. Had she? She was confused, the dark whisperings having gotten into her mind and jumbled things.. thoughts, memories, ideas, beliefs... and His voice, so deep and seductive.. Speaking to her, telling her that.. He was her people, that He needed her help, He needed her...

"As an elf priestess you know that it's your duty to serve your people, to do what they wish in order to keep them happy...And I am your people so isn't it right to serve and protect me?"

It made sense, to her nearly numb mind, her confused thoughts, it made sense, until her eyes alight upon the Dark Elf city of Us'Natath.. She stopped in her tracks, turning her cleared eyes to Him... she did not fight, nor struggle, but it was clear the haze He was keeping her in had faded at that moment...

"what is it You want from me... Dark One" she asked calmly, His arm still about her body, hence He could feel the quiver that coursed thru her..

Why had He brought her here? And why was He trying to get into her head, her thoughts, her dreams... to corrupt her? To hurt her? To torture her? to..... enslave her? ... why??? ~

Valryn turned to look at me as we looked over the city, she was still holding onto me, but her eyes had cleared somewhat, I knew all the words that I had spoken had sunk into her mind, she that it was all true, that I was her people and that as a priestess she had to serve me and protect me, but that didn't mean she didn't have her own mind, the dark altering was there to convert a mind to change its very roots into something else, but all her memories and her mind was still there, I was not controlling it as such; the dark alterings weren't mind control, that was easily changed, and taking memories was harder still as they tended to come back. So she held onto me now and looked up at me, with a confused look on her face, her memories and mind still there, but now thinking differently, thinking the ways of my new dark priestess

"What is it You want from me... Dark One" I smiled and she actually smiled back, though it was still a confused one as this did not answer her question, but she smiled in return nevertheless. I reached up, and instead of pulling back she just looked at my hand, i tehn lowered it and began to stroke her hair, running it through her long dark hair, she sighed softly and moved her head into it, as though she was now enjoying my touch, which was a remarkable thing between any elf and dark elf.

"Don't worry, I can sense the questions in your head, I will not hurt you....dark one," She looked at me quizzically, I answered this unasked question "Yes, you are a dark one too, you must be, if I am you people and you are my priestess, I am a dark one we know that, so you are a dark one too." I continued to stroke her hair, she closed her eyes and smiled, nodding slightly

"But I will not hurt you, I have brought you here to be with me, it as simple as that," She smiled at this and leant into me, holding me close now, but I could sense she was still wondering why she had her memories, "but I had to change you in order to let you be with me, to make you happy, a priestess not serving and pleasing her people is unhappy, so I had to change you in order to let you serve me, do you understand now?" I asked soothingly
