You might want to post more before you start getting your hopes up to find someone serious, let people get more of a feel for who you are before you try to get their attention as a stranger.

I made the same mistake, PM's picked up a lot when I started interacting with people properly and I haven't even been on the site a week yet - made a big difference quickly.
