Kim Kardashian, Attorney at Law

Looks like her recent stint as advocate has perked her interest in the legal system. I doubt very seriously this won't be more than a passing fancy.

Kim Kardashian announced she is studying to become a lawyer. As stated, California is one of four states that does not require you to attend law school (or college at all).

I'll admit my first thought was at least she'd finally be famous for something - other than an "American media personality." Wonder who her first client will be.

That's funny. My first thought was that if her whole ridiculous celebrity existence did nothing more than re-kindle apprenticeship in the law for CA, VT, VA, ME, NY, WY and WA then it had meaning.

Can't be much worse than Lit lawyers.

:p

They should look into moving - they can make a go at it too.

True. And now that wealthy parents buying their children's future is "a thing," it's not like her mom can pay someone to sit for the bar. But maybe she found her true calling. ;)

Don't get me wrong. I don't think Kim Kardashian is a total idiot. She's got to have some kind of head for business if nothing else. She does seem to know how to ride the currents, so to speak. But the reality is that becoming a lawyer is hard work and she'll earn more in six months with her various deals etc than she would in 5 years as a lawyer.

If she does stick with it, more power to her. But I just don't see her weighing it out and going for the lawyer gig long term.

I should do that. "Lit Moving Co."

I'll handle your boxes with care.

:p

There has to be a catchier phrase than that. Something witty, sexual, and yet insulting at the same time. Gotta appeal to ALL the forums if you are catering to all of Lit.

Exactly.

Crudeness has it's virtues.

Being rich and vain doesn't stop a person being passionate. I was actually really impressed when she got that woman released. We all sneer at her for the ditsy way she comes across, and the publicity seeking, but how many of us have achieved something that significant? That woman has a life with her family now. Does it really matter if Kim used her looks and celebrity, when the legal route had failed? If she can do some good for people in need, I admire her.

Her taste in men is balls though. Ew.

Why not?

A doofus can be the President of a First World Country.

True. But I’m thinking if he had to pass a test to show he had competent knowledge to be President we would be in different circumstances.

I admire her efforts and desire to step aside the box of “just another pretty face.” As Adrina stated, she has to have some aptitude in business or at least in surrounding herself with the “right” people. I just think eventually the tediousness of it all will cause her to abandon the pursuit. The California bar is one of the most difficult to pass allegedly. She has children, a famous husband, an active immediate family, and her other pursuits. Personally, I think she would find it more rewarding working with a nonprofit organization more aligned with her desire to promote change within the legal system and prison terms for nonviolent felons.

Attorneys have one of the highest suicide and alcoholism rates for a reason.

While I agree with you for the most part, it is far easier to achieve something that significant when your husband is greatly admired by (and publicly admires in return) the man granting clemency. My admiration is with those who don’t have the money, fame, or looks but still take cases on a pro bono basis or work/volunteer with programs like The Innocence Project.

I doubt that the people helped give a shit whether the person who got them freed was privileged or poor. Anyone who can do good should be encouraged, and anyone who succeeds is to be admired for that (if nothing else). To think otherwise is just snobbery.

Sure, some people border on saintly, coming from nothing, working their arses off to qualify whilst struggling to keep a roof over their heads, then giving their time to the needy when they can. Saintly. Rare, precious saints.
The rest of us just tick along, getting through life whilst trying to be decent and not too much of an arsehole. If one of us decides to do something extra, a marathon for cancer research, a kidney for a sibling, CPR on a stranger in the street, a regular donation to the local food bank, that still deserves respect and a little admiration. Even if it's not done by a saint. Because good deeds by ordinary people make the world a better place. Even if those people happen to be rich and spoilt.

KK has feelings, too.

I guess.

*sigh*

Damn you Flod, and your logic, too!

Exactly. She doesn't need to earn another dime for the rest of her life. She doesn't need to earn an extra dime for the rest of her great great grandchildren's lives.

I'm assuming that she's looking at getting a law degree so that she can advocate for prisoners. I'm kind of a big fan of law & order but I have no problem whatsoever with identifying miscarriages of justice and making those things right.

Assuming that's the direction she's wanting to go and not in some direction like drawing Up Entertainment contracts which would obviously be lucrative I would think that the credibility she would incur by being an actual serious advocate for prison reform with credentials to put her in the courtroom would do nothing but improve her brand as well.

Maybe she's looking to replace Bill Barr for the wildcard possibility of her motivation.

Supreme Court Justice?

OK, now I'm staying into FakePilot's story ideas territory. . . .

If she is competent, great. I would not choose her to dabble in my legal briefs for fear of being used for media face time. She might be a very talented lawyer but her former life raises my doubts.
