Ooooo Siren!! Tomorrow or Friday I should be getting a package from a friend in Hawaii with this stuff called li hing mui which is this powedered dried plum stuff that I've been told is *incredible* on popcorn. It's kind of sweet, sour and salty all at once, supposedly. I can't wait to try it!

i used to like it myself but i have a little story to tell, i have a friend who has an old black kettle and he would go around selling it, one day he called another buddy of mine and asked if we could come and help load the kittle, so we did when we got there it was sitting outside and you could plainly see where the dogs had been pissing on it, we loaded it and my buddy asked if he was going to scrub it out before he went to town and he told us no the fire would sanitize it, after this i have never been able to eat any since!!!

I was just talking to Calypso about kettlecorn. I go on Saturday early morning to our local growers market and have some freshly made. It is yummy! I love the combination of the sweet and the salt.

The microwave kettlecorn sucks big time.

I recently visited an American friend in Germany, who gave me a sample of kettlecorn to bring home and make in the microwave.

I'll admit that I really liked it. It was nice for once to get pop corn that didn't leave your lips all dry from the salt.

Since I haven't had the ones you get at farmers markets, I can't say if it's better or not. That will have to wait until I someday get close to a farmers market.

I agree about the microwave type sucking, bigtime. I was most disappointed. I chucked the rest of the unpopped bags into the trash.

I've never had the fresh stuff. The microwave kind is pretty good. I've sampled every kind the commissary has. Redenbacher's Sweet and Buttery is the best.

It is easy to make at home...those little aluminum popcorn poppers work the best... if you dont have one use a deep pan with lid...get your oil hot...when the first kernal pops,,,,put in 1/4 cup sugar to 1/2 cup corn,,,salt to taste after it is popped....sit back relax and enjoy the movie...
